Silk Way West Airlines' Boeing 747-400F, registered as 4K-BCV taxies out of the North East Cargo Ramp at Chicago's O'Hare International / Int'l Airport ( ICAO : KORD / IATA : ORD ) as Silk West 4882 Heavy ( AZG4882 / 7L4882 ) to Heydar Aliyev International Airport ( UBBB / GYD ) in Baku, Azerbaijan.
For some reason, the flight crew decided to stop their taxi roll just shy of one of the service roads that cuts across the North East Cargo Ramp taxiway. They sat there for about 2 minutes after stopping. My best guess is they were waiting for the metering controller to clear them out of the ramp, but it could've been another reason, such as a quick reference checklist for a maintenance issue, re-calculating their takeoff numbers for a different runway, or possibly, they saw me and weren't sure about their clearance passing me? I was standing next to some farm equipment used for snow removal that's well off to the edge of the taxiway and parked there year-round when it's not in use, so I don't see why that would've been an issue.
