Hi Chris. Thanks for another great video and congratulations on being a parent. I'm still using my huge heavy and massively springed (back to center) Thomas Super Wheel that I purchased about 10+ years ago. I'm just so used to it that I use the visual and auditory clues to help me. It seems to work for me. I know I would probably get better lap times and a more realistic experience with a FFB setup. Unfortunately, I just don't have the funds for a new FFB or preferably DD wheel at this time. My next investment will be a VR Headset (do you use one that you can recommend?) as I've read people have seen massive improvements with lap times with VR. Thanks again, and I hope that you can catch some ZZZ's. :-)

This was definitely me when I first started, plus with wheel locks at 90degrees each side, that was painful. I had to spend a week of practice on iRacing just to get a feel for the wheel itself. That was years ago, though, when I couldn't afford a decent wheel. Just recently bought a G29 since I wanted to start sim racing again and I've been playing GT Sport a bunch. Actually, I just bought ACC lately, but my oldest Thrustmaster wheel's FFB ain't supported at all: as soon as I get moving, it totally kills my graphics (frame freeze) until I come to a complete halt. So, I do have to play it without FFB; and pushing to the limit is just plainly impossible with visual and audio cues only. Actually², I can't even get the third medal (4 clean laps straight) because I keep going into 4 wheel slides in a corner or another, which the game detects as "loss of control", although I never stop pointing in the right direction. Tried for an hour straight, and just gave up when the game discredited me because "going to slow" because so affraid of sliding... So, yeah: *NOT QUICK*.

@@aTTaX420 I did, unfortunately. Tried about 5 different ones, to no avail (although I did manage to get all my buttons working at last). Never had a FFB wheel. Drive just fine without one. My old non-FFB wheel does self-center though, not that I feel that when I hold it. And honestly, I drive my real car on track days and that works just fine as well. Since I haven't driven with an FFB wheel I can't do a comparison but I honestly don't think the difference between my real car on track and the non-FFB wheel is that big. Makes me think that it's the FFB wheels that are unrealistic.
@geehammer1511

I can't compare it to a real car but I can tell you about the differences in the wheels, without FFB you get no feel of how much grip the car has, I used Thrustmaster Red Legend before I got a DFGT. With FFB you get resistance in the wheel which kinda builds indicating the level of grip, you get to feel the bumps. I put it as the Thrustmaster wheel was a toy and the DFGT is a real wheel.
