Your content and explanations are outstanding! The video on how the lower body works in the downswing was the best I've ever seen---explained like no other instructor. In this video and in others that you show the weight shift forward into the left side during transition it appears that you're moving your body mass forward a lot----are you doing this as an exaggeration for effect or are you really moving your body mass that far forward? I've been trying to shift weight into my left side like this for some time and been told I'm swaying. Can you differentiate or provide details showing the weight shift into the left side versus a sway? Also---is the upper body moving forward during this shift to the left side too?

What do you mean, "outside the golf ball"? In another video you talk about tracing the butt of the club at or inside the ball. I imagine a slight arc going back and down as you land on the left leg (stacking in the transition). I"m confused by where your laser pointer is on the ground relative to the swing path and ball. I'll be on skillest soon as I really like your stuff.
@Gilesgillgolf
Жыл бұрын
The shaft points inside the ball. The shoulder tilt will point outside the ball 👍🏻

Hi Giles! Love your videos. I have a cheeky question. Love to know your views descriptively or do you have any video on this would love to watch? In my practice swing i have more hips close, chest close, more shallow(inside) right path like severe draw but in actual swing with ball , mind compensates with hips, shoulders open, left path for hitting straight shot till impact and then in follow through also the swing path goes to the right till one moment before finish. and then it goes to normal at last and manages to get a straight shot. Because if it replicates practice swings then I can miss the ball. In other words at practice the swing club is more behind at the delivery position and in actual swing the club is more outside at the delivery position. I think if I fix this open move in Actual swing by making a close move with my body then I am doing the wrong fix. Because it is fake open. So If I Fix like a severe draw move (which happens in practice swing) By making my Hips more open in downswing then it is the right fix. But not sure. Do you see such pattern ? How do you fix this?
@Gilesgillgolf
Жыл бұрын
Very simply your body is reacting to something being out of position. Changes are the root cause to your issue is back in the setup, backswing or transition. You need to identify the thing that is out of position creating this reaction. Rehearsal swings always look different as we aren’t hitting anything so we don’t have to be functional
@nomanishfaq9011
Жыл бұрын
@@Gilesgillgolf Very well said. Thanks 👍 . So for this root cause you would look at actual swing's setup, backswing, transition rather then Practice swing(rehearsals)? Also one thing i tried is feeling upright backswing and more left path (like slicer) to solve this very inside club and closed hips, shoulders look of rehearsals but still in actual swing it causes more open up than previous plus club look is still very outside at delivery. So no change occur.
@Gilesgillgolf

@@nomanishfaq9011 the first place I’d look it clubface. Your body always reacts to the clubface positioning throughout the swing

@Gilesgillgolf

Is that for the shoulder movement?
@AndrewDCDrummond
Жыл бұрын
Left shoulder down is a good thought/checkpoint for getting some left sidebend and thoracic tilt in the backswing but I think the checkpoint for the transition/downswing is really that the left shoulder moves as you describe but as a reaction to the left hip actually moving slightly first, which you see in pro swings when in very slow motion. If the left shoulder is not moving as you describe it’s a signal that the left sidebend/thoracic tilt in the backswing wasn’t enough.
@Gilesgillgolf
Жыл бұрын
The left hip moves before the backswing finishes & the left hip moves as a byproduct of a pressure shift. If you physically try and bump the left hip over you won’t be stacked correctly. This videos purpose is to highlight a simple checkpoint of the left shoulder. As highlighted in the video I did also mention the key relationship between the upper and lower body in the transition.
