R.I.P Sizzler You will never be forgotten with your good old might cheese toasts 😢😢😢😢😢😢 (1985-2020)

Sizzler was a compulsory dining experience when we were up on the Gold Coast earlier in the year. I think the staff (and some of the other customers) thought we were weird 3 grown men acting like school girls with our first Sizzler experience in about 15 years (luckily our local mate explained why we we're so excited otherwise we would probably be in an institution of some sort)!

A lot of people have said that over the years. Visiting Sizzler was part of a GC holiday. Alas, only 11 days left.

They just took the American commerical and overdubbed using the same actress. That way the savings are passed onto the customer :)

I wish Sizzler would come back to Victoria, I can still remember the one on the Princes Highway in Berwick. Sizzler restaurants in Australia are mostly in QLD now, with a couple in Sydney and Perth as well

@@Dan_07 There used to be a Sizzler restaurant on the Princes Highway in Dandenong near Plunkett Road as you were heading out of Dandenong away from the city of Melbourne. It became a car yard called Dandenong Automobiles, with the Sizzler restaurant building still intact.

"the three girls all have the same voice" Yeah, it looks like an American ad that they dubbed over with an Australian accent, except they were cheap and only hired one voice actor.

+framptonorchablis The internal shot was filmed at Sizzler Toombul, Qld. It was filmed a few days before it opened. I was there, you can see my back in the last seconds of the add. :) Not sure why they dubbed the girls voices though.

i just got a bit excited as channel 7 Melbourne just showed an ad for Sizzler, i had a look on their website & according to it they haven't opened one here :( I guess it was just a mistake on ch7 part then? must have meant to broadcast it in nsw/qld/wa only. Oh well, theres still hope yet lol

yeah coz they closed em all in the late 90's, i heard some moron bought the chain then went broke soon after due to dodgy business dealings & whoever he sold them to decided to make them something else, anyway i heard theres one left in QLD somewhere.

I dunno what you mean by 'closed em all in the late 90's' because they were definitely still huge in the early 2000's. The big thing that happened in QLD was a poisoning incident in 2006, where a woman put rat poison into the buffet food in two of their restaurants, and it basically caused most of the Sizzlers in major metropolitan areas to tank. They closed down while it was being investigated and when they reopened they didn't get the same patronage as they did before the poisoning. Big shame because it was for sure the reason for Sizzler restaurants closing en masse in QLD.

@@mygoldfisharegold Sizzler closed in Melbourne sometime during the mid-late 1990s. They were bought out by a short lived chain called Bell's.
