Hello! I'm using Unity 2021.1.7f1 and Visual Effect Graph 11.0.0 . When I follow the tutorial, I can't find any Position (Skinned Mesh) block, or any block at all with the word 'skin'. Would you have any idea what I'm missing? EDIT: Found it! In 2021.1.7f1, you need to go to Preferences > Visual Effects > Experimental Operators/Blocks. Just in case anyone else runs into this! Thank you for the great tutorial!

You could try making the effect from FF15 where after Noctis throws the sword a "clone" of him is left behind. Or even try something similar to the 2B dodge in Nier where after a perfect dodge it sends 4 clones of the mesh in oposing directions.

This is great! Is there any way to weight the particle emission rate by the emission texture applied to a skinned mesh's material? I have glowing bits on my character models I would love to apply this to.

This is sick. I was trying to achieve this in my project using the Shuriken particle system with the skinned mesh renderer for the shape, but for some odd reason when I go into play mode and try to trigger the particle animation, it no longer detects the input of my skinned mesh. Any ideas as to why this could be happening?

Reeeally really cool, at the end of yesterday I figured out the problem, like in your video I was using the blocks in the update particle xD, have you tried to animate it like moving all the mass of particles from another shape or position to that skinned mesh?

How do you add the surface to the exposed properties? I can't understand just by looking at your screen. You somehow seem to select the Beta_Surface in the hierarchy without changing the inspector or clicking and dragging it to the SkinnedMeshRenderer property. Its at 01:54

@Zii Nice introduction. I'm still searching for a solution fo make a VFX Graph follow a Spline. In Shuriken it is working with a specific Script but I couldn't get this done directly in VFX Graph. Especially when visualising specific Media Flows in engines etc. it would be nice to just have an editable spline and not a skinned high poly mesh.

Really great tutorial! 😁 Have you by any chance had a look at the Sample Skinned Mesh operator? It looks more capable than the Skinned Mesh Position block, but I haven't yet figured how to replicate the block's behaviour with it.

Thank you. Yes, I'm assuming it should work like the point cache operator but I'm not sure how to use the color data for example, hopefully we'll know more when the documentation comes out.

Hey guys! I wanted to do the same thing and I think I just figured it out. Here's an imgur link to the result: imgur.com/vxsoMX4 Here's a screenshot of my VFX graph: imgur.com/au0B8iD I'm picking a random vertex based off spawn index, using it to sample texture coordinates & position from SkinnedMeshRenderer, and then getting color from the SkinnedMeshRenderer texture using those texture coordinates. Sorry I'm not as good a tutorial-maker as Zii!

If you're talking about the binders, just don't think of them as scripts. Think of it as adding an add-on to the vfx component.

@@ZiFX is not about how I think of them. The importer we use in AltSpaceVR doesn’t allow any scripts, not even volumetric, so was wondering if this effect could be achieved without scripts.

Ah i see. Unfortunatly there isn't any built-in way in vfx graph to achieve this. Right now, Binders are the only way for vfx graph to read this type of data but I recommend contacting the team to suggest your needs here : portal.productboard.com/unity/1-unity-platform-rendering-visual-effects/c/455-didn-t-find-what-you-were-looking-for
