i love the caves. It provides a very logical contact point with alien life. From the Kawatche legend, to an alien parasite, to Lionel's interest on Lex's interest in the caves. It'd make no sense if Lionel followed Clark just because Lex seemed hung up on Clark. But that there is trouble and phenomena emanating from the caves completely explains why Lionel is circling Clark's secret. It makes way more sense that the caves (being revered by the Kawatche) are a door to another world rather than there being a Fortress buried in the arctic that no Kryptonian even tried to use as a focal point of an empire building scheme until after Clark takes it. It is awful though that it seemed to be a rather toxic set to try working in.

Episodes this season I’m particularly excited for… visage, insurgence, suspect, rush, Rosetta, and Exodus. Rush is gonna be fun I think cause not only does Clark get affected by Red K, but also for anyone affected by the parasite, it’s basically Red K for them as humans. Insurgence because Clark does one of his first real big feats in jumping from building to building. Visage just really for Clark fighting his “clone”😂. Rosetta for obvious reasons, aka, Christopher Reeve. And then Exodus cause it’s, imo, one of the best finales of the series. Tense, bittersweet, sad… just straight up epic!

What I found interesting is Tom's revelation about the owners not feeding the animals for a day or two before bringing them on set so they can be more responsive to their owners. It is interesting because an animal is your friend until it's hungry, and then you are its dinner. I recall a story I read a while ago where a man left his dog alone for a week while he went on holiday, and upon his return, the hungry animal made him his meal. I only bring this up because a wolf is more dangerous than a dog, and if the trainer has starved the animal for a day or two, it could be looking at the actors as its potential meal.

In response to Michael Rosenbaum's question about Kylie's sudden discovery of the symbols in the cave despite her numerous visits, her explanation is both intriguing and profound. When Kylie rushes to Clark's aid after his fall, and he assures her that he is unharmed, Clark then queries about her sudden presence, Kylie explains that she had been engaged in some work in a different part of the cave for her grandfather, and when Clark had falling it created a landslide that opened up a different part of the cave wall revealing a previously unknown area of the cave where the symbols were discovered, and she had never been before. That previous unknown part of the cave is the part of the cave where she and Clark now reside. If you look at 5:27 mark from the SkinWalker Smallville episode you can see the wall collapsing due to Clark's impact and her coming from that newly opened wall .

Surely it was the daylight streaming into the caves from Clarkes fall (and clear opening) that highlighted those cave drawing. The scene with Clarke & Kyla in the barn - she gets upset quickly because (as we find out later) he is close uncovering her secret - not her fathers

I remember this episode where we found out about the caves, it really opens up the story about Clark origins. It was nice to see Clark open with Kyla, too bad she didn't survive, I wish she were in more episodes. I love Al's insights it feels like he is a real fan of the show and not just the creator. He remembers amazing things. I think it was a really great episode. Two Roses 🌹 🌹

I watched Smallville for the first time when I was very young and rewatched all throughout my life. To answer your question. I always knew they were trying to get across that Kryptonians had visited earth before Clark. The symbols being in the cave is implying it, so I think we’re just meant to pick up on it
@cainabel2009

One of the reasons I believe they chose the actress who plays Kyla is because of her strong resembles to Kristin a.k.a Lana, she could easily be Lana's sister. When Clark falls through the cave he mistakes her for Lana and I can see why.

kyla was so much prettier than lana. don’t get me wrong lana is pretty but the barn scene i rem when the cam panned to lana after showing clark and kyla i was shocked at how bad it made lana look in comparison

It was great to have Al on the show or at least on the phone, as he always had a unique perspective and insight into the world of Smallville. Even before Al mentioned it, I was able to make the connections that other Kryptonians had visited Earth, which had been hinted at throughout the show. Kyla even mentioned that other visitors had come to their planet in the past, bringing with them rocks that had an adverse effect on some members of the tribe. In response to Tom's question, where he questioned if Kyla was the only one of her kind, I don't believe that to be the case, as she explained that the meteorite had affected most of her ancestors but not all of them. This suggests that the gene responsible for the ability to change into wolves was passed down through generations by those who were affected and so more than likely other members of the tribe likely have the gene as well. This is entirely possible through the fact that Kyla, who was born many, many generations later has the gene. The episode served as a gateway to Clark's mythology, as we learned in the future seasons that Kryptonians have been coming to Earth for thousands of years through a portal in the cave.

I agree matt I didnt know myself the cave was unsettling filming in there ,anyway I like the engraved stories of 🏹the native American legends I wrote a article below about some native legends ,theres a story that's true when george Washington was serving under the British during the french and Indian war ,he was serving under a British commander name edward braddock,washington understood how the french and Indians use guerilla warfare tactics especially the Indians like the Ottawa the potowami, and others how they fire behind rocks and trees braddock was warned by washington to get scouts as braddocks army stretched 4 miles long in the dense Ohio woods as he marched to the French fort ,braddock refused well 7 miles from the fort at the monongahela river ,🌳🌲🏞💥💥🏹💥the Indians and french opened fire the british soilders in their bright red uniforms where perfect targets they where fired at but they couldnt see who was firing clearly in the dense forest eventualy of the 1300 British troops 900 where killed 86 officers where left braddock was hit in his lung and fell Washington had to organize the retreat washington of the 86 officers was the only one left during the ambush Washington had 2 horses shot from under him after he lead the retreat he discovered 4bullet holes that penetrated his uniform but he wasnt harmed 🤯😱he also had a few in his hat he wrote his mother and brother saying by the miraculous care of "providence I've been protected beyond measure for I had bullets through my coat and 2 horses shot under me yet escaped unhurt although death was leveling my companions on every side "theres a account where its said one of the Indians during that battle is claimed to have said "washington was never born to be killed by a bullet I had 17 fires at him with my rifle and after all couldnt bring him to the ground!"well theres a account call the Indian prophecy it comes from a old source from eyewitness accounts and from washingtons inner descendants it was even dramatized in 1837 I recall washington and his doctor james carik where traveling along the area where this battle occured 15 years later it was 1770,just before the American war of independence, a chief with a band 🏹🏹of warriors came to greet washington and his entourage near where this battle occured a council fire🔥was lite and the chief address washington through an interpator saying" I've traveled a long and weary path that I might see the young warrior of that great battle it was on the day the white mans blood mixed with our forest when I first beheld this chief I call to my young men and said mark yon tall and daring warrior quick let you're aim be certain he dies our rifles where leveled rifles which but for you knew not how to miss💥💥to was all in vain a power far mightier than we shielded you ,seeing you where under the guardianship of the Great Spirit we immediately cease to fire at you I'm old and shall soon join my father's in the land of shades but are I go theres something buds me speak in the voice of prophecy listen the Great Spirit protects that man!and guides his destiny he will become a chief of nations and a people yet unborn will hail him as a founder of a mighty empire"fascinating story matt I hope you found it interesting

Not sure whether anyone else has commented on it, but I actually enjoy listening to you guys do the mini-commercials each week for Athletic Greens, as well as the other sponsors. You both have a very natural, pleasant, down to Earth delivery. Instead of the hard sell, it just feels like two people casually talking about how much they appreciate the value of a specific product or service.

Guys! I love the show, but I honestly think you should change format, do a live stream instead and get a ton of donations here on youtube, and have Ryan read up the questions, later you can download the episode and edit it to perfection and uppload it afterwards, I think the direct fan interaction will have a massive impact. you also avoid the 3 week lag between recordings

I notice that the bracelet Joseph gives Clark at the end never comes up again. He never gives it to Lois or anything. Also it's funny that the cave is treated as if it's so important in seasons 2-4 but as soon as Clark makes the Fortress of Solitude the cave becomes completely irrelevant.

This was perhaps honestly one of the best episodes in season 2. Being the one that finally started Clark on the journey of fully learning about his origins. With him discovering the Kawatche caves, which house the Legends related to Krypton. Clark learns from Kyla and her grandfather more about those legends. How a visitor from another world came to Earth and started a Prophecy related to Clark. All very interesting stuff. One of my personal favorites.
