So, if you believe the bolt design is defective because of the free-floating firing pin, I would assume you feel the same way about the M1 and the AR, since they also have free-floating firing pins, as do many other weapons. Just keep it clean, make sure it moves freely inside the bolt, and you won't have a problem. Also the rear sight is in meters, not yards.

Which of the three is more accurate? I've noticed that Yugos are the most expensive, followed by Russians, with Chinese being generally the cheapest. Is the Chinese SKS any less accurate or reliable than the Russian?
@NovemberDelta
3 жыл бұрын
The Chinese ate usually less quality builds... but it depends upon the individual one... tge Yugoslavian has a longer barrel and a little more robust as its a heavy barrel. The Russian will usually have a higher quality along with Yugoslavian but again depends on which one and condition etc. The Yugo is bigger and beefier while the Russian and Chinese are smaller and lighter- the Yugo also has more bells and whistles with the up close sights launcher and longer bayonet. Dude, there’s so much wrong information or inaccurate statements in this video. It’s pathetic. Chinese SKS rifles are not made out of poor quality metal or components. They’re actually some of the better quality SKS you will find. Some of the Romanian ones are far worse production quality. And the free floating firing pen is not a defect or a shortcoming. Plenty of other long running service rifles use free floating firing pins as well. You just have to keep the rifle bolt pin channel clean.

@@jamesskyway6746 as long as your firing pin channel is clean and the pin floats freely, you don't want the spring in there. The spring is a problem waiting to happen. the bolt does come apart, and is easy to clean. The only true reason they got stuck, is because people would buy them coated in cosmoline. And they wouldn't bother taking it completely apart to remove it all. The cosmoline would make the firing pin stick, causing occasional slam fires when you would close the bolt. In normal operation you can shake the bolt and hear the pin moving inside.

The first Russian SKS's built in 1949-1950 actually had a spring loaded firing pin, but they found that the spring would accumulate gun powder grime and residue and would jam or fail. They went to the free float firing pin in 1951 to eliminate the jams. The problem nowadays is modern ammo with soft primers that, when the bolt and carrier are released, sometimes a slam fire would occur if the bolt is not properly cleaned. If you can get the milsurp ammo, such as the M67 Yugo ammo, which have hard primers, slam fire is less likely to occur.
