TyTrexo The band was on a much smaller label (Koch) at this point. I don't think they got much of a push from them. Things were changing fast. Napster was gaining steam. Different genres of music were getting more popular. Just a weird time for a bluesy rock band. By the end of the tour Slash got really sick, and this band was essentially 1 and done. They were great. Energy level off the charts! I saw them twice on that tour. Once in a club, Another time opening for AC/DC. Hope this sheds some light on that era.

Saw Snakepit 3 times in the late 90's until 2001. Rod Jackson has a powerful voice with a great range, he can carry the note for almost a minute, its crazy. Hands down, this line-up was better than anything Velvet Revolver related (and I've seen VR 4 times). Maybe VR should just hire Rod, it will un-due and cleanse the weakness Weiland brought to Velvet Revolver

The fact that Jerry Heller was their manager didn't help matters. Also, after the demise of SP, Slash referred to Rod Jackson, as an" Unmotivated junkie" A lot of hypocrisy in that statement alone. I was grateful to have seen them perform, live 5 times!

I saw them live in S.F at Slims, man, I guess around 00,01. The band was really tight and the show kicked ass. I did wish one more Snakepit album was made. One more thing, the rhythm guitarist, I think his name is Kelly Kerry or kerrie Kelly, Damn, he must be playing lead for someone, he ripped it up at the show also.

TributeToon talks about Axl being voted the 64th best singer of ALL time! He may be a top 20 FRONT MAN, but he's not even in the top 100 singers. With the right twist and turns of the knobs in the studio, the right person could even make TributeToon sound good. Have you seen Axl live? or I should say, Have you heard him live? And dont give me that crap about his singing style being HARD on his vocal cords. The problem is, he cant duplicate the vocal illusions that were created in the studio!

Well Pukemagot812,you make a very articulated argument that I can see was well thought out. My point is-I love the original GNR. AXL was a contributor NOT the reason, for their greatness. He is a good frontman,NOT a very good singer! Post GNR has shown us that Axl needs them WAY more than they need him! The talent of GNR,CLEARLY no longer resides in GNR! I like Axl. As a character. he has charisma and a swagger that cant be taught. Unfortunately those traits hurt him more than help him.

I cant get enuff of the music genius that is TributeToon. He sent me this stinging rebuttal:"Axl was chosen the 64th best inger of all times of the 100's list that the Rolling Stones created. stop the yapping" WOW I didnt realize that THE ROLLING STONES were the nielsen's of the music industry HAHAHA! This top 100 list you are using as a guide to prove AXL's greatness has Greg Allman-70 Steve Perry-76 Mariah Carey-79 Stevie Nick's-98! If you want to run your mouth do your homework first!
