thank god , the last bit exists... the ray switching part is soooo esseential and makes this slicer material a perfect fit for the job now compared to previous map , cant even remember the name and wont have to any more :)

Exactly! Sometimes you want the sliced away stuff to cast no shadows, like it was physically taken away, but sometimes (esp. archviz) you want the shadows to act as if the sliced stuff was still there. Have to have both choices :) Glad you are enjoying it and finding it useful! Thanks! Tom

I don’t even know what to say guys. This is incredibly crazy! Have been doing workarounds for this for too long and seeing this available for production now brings me to tears 😂 Thanks Team Corona!

Great to hear that this gets rid of those workarounds and that it will make your life easier! Just what we want to achieve when we add new features :) Thanks! Tom

Good feature addition but unfortunately there are a few fundamental issues with it. -there are some visual artifact bugs when using slicer with Forest Pack which basically makes the tool unusable in some circumstances when used in conjunction with Forest Pack -when using slicer, the external light can enter the sliced space. To get great looking slice renders, it's essential the the interior shadows are maintained, as per the basic camera clipping tool that is built into the 3ds max camera. Not the best solution but at the very least, a toggle needs to be added to the slicer object to enable/disable shadow casting.

For the second point, the video shows how this can be done using the rayswitch material to prevent external light entering the scene, we showed that as it is something people will want :) It's a painless set up, so shouldn't make things more complicated than a basic set up - however you can post a feature request if you like, at forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?board=5.0 On the first point, you can always report it over at forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?board=2.0, so that the developers will see it, and we can investigate (alongside iToo) any problems. We'd need the full bug report info, like which version of Max, which version of Corona, which version of FP, and some visual examples of the problems (or even a scene - if you want to send a scene and keep it private rather than shared on the forums, send in the report via support.chaos.com and "Submit a Request" rather than the forums). Thanks! Tom

@@ChaosCoronaHah, thanks for clearing up the shadow issue and being patient with your answer. I stopped watching about 6 seconds too soon :\ I'll go ahead with the bug report for the first point, thanks. This issue with forest pack was oddly also present with the Vray slicer tool around 5-6 years ago, the last time I used Vray before I switched to Corona. Not sure if vray still suffers from this issue.

@@tommyg83333333 Thanks for taking the time to report the bug! Aha on stopping the video just a little too soon, easily done, and happy to let you know there is a solution in there :) Thanks! Tom

Howdy! Not sure what could have gone awry there but it should most definitely work. I would kindly suggest contacting either our support team (support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/requests/new) or hop onto our forums (forum.corona-renderer.com/) and start a new topic there. Nejc
