I decided to stitch a Tawny Owl for the next page in my fabric bird book. I'm using scrap fabrics from my stash along with mainly easy straight stitches to portray him sitting on the chimney of my shed. This slow stitch technique can be used to make all sorts of lovely images come to life. There's a surprising addition to the fabric scraps which I only thought about whilst stitching him and I must admit to finding him a bit of a challenge!
I hope you get inspired to try stitching the birds you see around you too. Instead of a book you could turn the stitchings into a wall hanging or frame them for a present or just to put on your wall to enjoy...
