Agree 100 %. U2 were really progressive with Zooropa and Pop, exciting timeless classics and were still banging out quality lyrics and melody and amazing electronic music, and boring dick fans stopped them in their tracks. They should really make music for themselves. I'm sure it would be amazing, they're working with Eno for goodness sake. Take Depeche mode for instance. I have loved this beautiful, dreamy, deep space song for decades, and found this video a few weeks ago and I was floored that the song Slug is the background music to clips from my favorite movie of all time, "2001: A Space Odyssey" by Arthur C. Clarke and Stanley Kubrick. It reminds me of what I might experience one day when I pass from this physical known world to the mysterious and unknown "afterlife", if there is such a thing. I hope it's a cool experience such as this, only much longer. And I want to be with You.... We still don't have a space station nearly as cool or effective as what was created in the 50-year old movie.

I listened to Hands That Built America recently, also In The Name of the Father (amazing song too), and that reminded me to look for other non-album U2 tracks, then I remembered Miss Sarajevo so I decided to check out the whole Passengers album finally... and when this track played and then Bono started singing, I was so touched that maybe I even dropped a tear, because I know I heard this before once million years ago and now it's like here are you my love, we're young and together again. Update: Actually it's also Christmas so the imagery "lights turning on in a city at night" (wiki) is double as effective.

OS1, its Passengers monikor to the contrary, is very much a U2 album. If you ever wanted a sequel to TUF, with the former album's music updated to '90s techno, this is it. Both albums are ethereal and meditative, and very much show the influence of Brian Eno. If you add in NLOTH, you have U2's (primarily Eno-helmed) meditative trilogy.
