I bought the original Transparent Zero based of Josh's review. Great little desktop speakers. Last year I also bought the T1 Encores as well, those are amazing. One of the reasons I loved this company is there communication. When I bought both sets of speakers they reached out thanking me for the purchase and asking me my thoughts and some other thoughts. As well, when my first Zero's had an issue, they sent me a new set right away, emailed me a return label, and shipped the new ones before receiving the old ones. Great company, great speakers, I use both my Encores and my Zeros daily.

I've had (and loved) my T0s for handful of years now. Always happy to see this company get the recognition they deserve. Lol seeing you have them naked on a desk triggers me since I need THICC foam to keep 'em from shaking my desk too much.

I've had them on my desk for about 2 years. Near field they are amazing. Completely agree with the scale, it's a 'short' soundstage, but they're tiny. Not a problem when they're only a foot away, but I wouldn't try to use them as a sound bar replacement in the living room. The laser focused center image is great for consuming content on the computer. Paired with a sub they are an unbelievably good desktop solution. One of few purchases I have made that I've never second guessed or regretted. No honking at all in my setup, but placement and room configuration are probably a factor. I also have the high pass filter engaged because of the sub. Great vid as always - love the content!

That's why I always use isolation pads instead of putting them directly on a hard surface on a desk. It controls that boomtown sound so much better.

If you use any kind of speaker, please make sure it doesn't touch the desk under it with all its surface. It will transform the desk itself into a bass speaker. Use something in between that disconnects them. I use blue tennis balls from Decathlon that I cut in half. You have to make sure the surface doesn't vibrate when bass goes BRRR

I find using a pair of basic yoga blocks works great for the decoupling of my 5 year old TO's from the surface of my desktop. It also gets the tweeters higher off the desk and more in line with my ears for what i perceive to beslightly more precise imaging which is already excellent.

I own the original Vanatoo Transparent Zero (T0) for my desktop setup in my home office - and I would not own anything different!!! They are that good, seriously. I actually purchased a set of the IsoAcoustics Speaker Isolation Stands from Amazon and it improved & refined the sound even more. The thing that amazes me about the T0s is their ability to just DISAPPEAR! I have a large 32" curved monitor on my desk that sits between the T0s and the sound/imaging just comes from the middle of my entire desk. When I play music it sounds like the artist and/or band are right in front me playing behind my monitor. I never hear sound directly from the T0s, rather the sound images itself across my desk as it is meant to from the recording. It makes listening to music at my desk such a joy. I totally agree with the recommendation to use a subwoofer to improve the sound even more. Don't get me wrong, the T0s have excellent bass and lower frequencies - but I learned the value of subwoofers many years ago. And a good little subwoofer just allows the T0s to focus on what they do best. I purchased the Cambridge Audio Minx X201 (www.crutchfield.com/p_779X201B/Cambridge-Audio-Minx-X201-Black.html) in Black and stick it under my desk back against the wall. It is completely out of sight and just does it's magic. Like most subwoofers, I do not have it turned up very loud - just enough to provide that low-frequency ooomph needed to make the music sound real, like it is being played right in front of you. What an outstanding sound system! Anyway, great review and thanks for covering this new & improved product!

I have original T0 speakers and use them daily. Given that they utilize DSP I found that it is optimal to use a digital input (the optical in particular) rather than the analog input, regardless of the external DACs you may have available. I wonder like to see reviewers do a comparison of digital vs analog input for these speakers.

0 seconds ago I’m surprised that the risk of your amp blowing (and thus rendering your speakers useless) is not addressed here. I own a pair of dead TO Encores that died after 3 years and 5 months. The vendor refused any discount on replacement or toward purchase of an upgrade. The only solution they offered was to sell me a new amp with DIY instructions for $125. Unfortunately, they could not guarantee that the new amp would last any longer than the first one. I elected to go back to passives. Vanatoo said to me that “when the amp in these does, you’re out of luck.” I consider it a $650 lesson to learn that active speakers are not yet ready for prime time. Perhaps other active speaker manufacturers offer a more durable product or sufficient warranty?

Hey Josh, have you listened to Ruark Audio MR1's. Great little speakers that i use to replace my TV speakers. They're great for films, music & general TV program stuff. They completely disappear giving the fuul illusion that voices, music & soundtracks are coming from the TV not the speakers. Dialogue is pin point accurate to the video placement of the subject. They can be cranked up without losing control but are best at regular listening levels. I have the mark 1's & for a bit of extra oomf for movies, i'm using a Sunfire D10 sub. Set up properly, you can't detect it until it's needed then wow! it hits you. Ruark have updated the MR1 with extra inputs & design tweaks. Have a look, hopefully you'll be suitably impressed (especially at there price. Thanks for the great content esp the vids with DMS, very entertaining.

I loved my Vanatoo T0 as they had better bass and imaging than the Micca RB42, however I went with the Miccas after a while because of their highs and midrange being stellar for vocals and guitars. Also you can add a subwoofer for bass or put on headphones for imaging at a desk. When I can afford them the T1E are my endgame home theatre speaker tho.
