Those calves you saw are in "Calf Hutches"...the vast majority of dairy calves live in a calf hutch for the first weeks of life. Housing calves in hutches allows calves with immature immune systems to receive individualized care during the most crucial part of their lives. With a calf living in an individual hutch farmers can see exactly how much milk and other feed they consume and can see the consistency of their manure, both are an important indicator of health.

Wrong.. they are VEAL HOUSES.. they lock the calf’s in there so they can’t move. To keep the meat tender. They will never make it to be a cow.

Another great backroads video. When you said Wisconsin, I thought maybe you'd do Beloit College. When my daughter was looking there, during the tour, we found out that Beloit College and Professor Roy Chapman Andrews was the real-life inspiration to Indiana Jones. The "Cowlien" came from the Milkyway and that is not udderly ridiculous. The 1940 Ford is what MY grandparents used to cross the country that same year along Route 66. Calves in large dog sheds are not uncommon. I see that in Pa. all the time. You seem obsessed with water towers. You should go to Weirton, W.V. where Super 8 was filmed. Thanks for another good one. Hi to all.

The Grotto in Dickeysville was AWESOME to see n I would have definitely gone inside n bought a souvenir from the gift shop!! We go to two different Catholic Shrines in Michigan VERY often on our sister's vacations we now do every year. The Indian River Shrine in Indian River, Michigan, the lower peninsula, has the world's largest Crucifix n many little grottos for different saints as well as a Church, n it is been there since before we started going there on our vacations in Topinabee right nearby in the 1960's. We just revisitef it last August, n the towering Crucifix you can actually walk right up to n stand underneath is EXTREMELY worth the trip to see!!! It is iconic!!! The Bishop Baraga Shrine in the upper peninsula in L'Anse, Michigan where my sister Wendy lives is a beautiful place right on Lake Superior with his actual cabin he lived in in the 1600's when he was the first Priest to minister to the Indians n the loggers by visiting them wearing snowshoes to get to them in the long winters as there was no other way to travel up there back then, thus he being named "The Snowshoe Priest!!! They also have the BEST religious gift shop EVER, where you can get all kinds of HOLY items for .50 cents to a few dollars including all Catholic accoutrements necessary for our worship, as well as homemade ice cream mafe by the Nun that hosts the shop!!! Also just went there last August n it is well worth the trip too!!!
