Your timing is tight. As you played through the head I snapped my fingers to the imaginary groove. I could hear the sizzle and swing of the hi-hat and ride. Sweet guitar tone, too.

This is great! One note about the rhythm of the bass, on the 4th phrase Paul Chambers actually holds the last A a little later. Just a bassist thing we notice.

Nice work Guitarreference. I bought your pdf file for this. NICE ES-175. Beautiful color. I have a ES-150 DCN from 1970. Love the jazzbox guitars.

Thanks so much! The box just has that nice fat warm sound! Nothing like it. Love the 150 insane guitar! Natural?
@popev3887

@@Guitarreference , thank you for the reply. Yes, it is the ES-150 natural that they only made 500 of them over a 5 year period of the ES-150 DC. I love the natural grain finish. It was a toss up for me between an ES-175 or the ES-150 DC. I love both of those Gibson models.

Nice one. Thx. One comment though - 2:55 - the minor (horn) chords only LOOK like D-Shape (with reference to CAGED) but these are rather A-Shape. The root is on the fifth string (as is in A-Shape) not on forth stings (as is in D-Shape).

Thanks Hi T it is actually E-7 add4 to D-7 add4 the E and A are in the I and IV are in the bass I am just playing the top of the chord in this video. A great way to play the E-7 add4 is to bar the 7th fret from the A string and play the 8th fret on the B string. Hope this helps. S

@@Guitarreference I think you're both not correct - there is a minor harmonic played on the B string. it's difficult to notate this as the harmonics are all in 4ths except for the top E string. I would call those chords Em7 add4 -> Dm7 add4

Remove all the treble and put bass all the way up with mids 3/4 all the way up, and use humbucking pickups with 12 or 11gauge flat wound strings and use a thick pick, probably around 1.5mm, and use a fender style amp

What’s the point of posting a video if it’s not clear which finger is doing what? Could’ve just googled the notes.

Hi... You need to use your ears (and heart) more than your eyes.. trust me it's easier than using your eyes. If you can't do it yet, just keep exercising your ear (and heart) muscles and I promise you'll be able to use them to learn songs in a week's time.

Also... If you keep watching past the first two minutes he does show you what every single finger does, in slow motion.
