"…But real and truly, you did it to yourself” 🤣🤣🤣 To combat my over consumption, I make lists. Grocery lists, clothings lists and I stick to it.

The whole matter is down to discipline and the level of one's gratitude and contentment. The world pumps out that we need more and don't have enough, when we have more than enough. Imagine if people were taught that they are already blessed and anything they get doesn't define their sense of worth.

I remember when i used to work at selfridges i was obsessed with buying makeup - but now i make lists of things missing in my wardrobe/skincare/makeup and i shop more intentionally how things have changed

That’s honestly the best way to do it, if you don’t have a list you’ll end up with a whole bunch of extras for mo reason 😩

So needed this time! Particularly for women content creators, alot of them promote excess buying and over consumption. Keeping up with them you will go broke. 😅! More content creators need to speak about what they are doing to invest their money!

I love clothes. I dress up every day. But the other day I was arranging my clothes after laundry and I felt overwhelmed 😢 by the amount of clothes I have, some of which I haven't worn in ages and noticed I only wear the same same clothes as I'm great at shopping my closet. At the same time noticed I'm missing certain basic pieces that I need for work, gym, undergarments Decided to do this: 1. Declutter expeditiously 2. Make a list of stuff that I actually need.. work clothes, shoes, innerwear, sleepwear, casual etc and ONLY shop what's on that list. Even if I'm window shopping or walking around the mall, no more buying coz it looks nice. Buying what I need and having a wardrobe that serves my current needs and season in life.

An influencer having a beauty room is like a mechanic having a wall of tools. It’s for their vocation. I was a minimalist until the pandemic when I realized it’s not always guarantee that you can just go out and get what you need. Now I stock up.

Firstly, thank you for this video, your video's are always interesting and informative. As a South African living in the UK, oh my goodness, I used to buy so many things, furniture, clothes, etc, and send them at home. Honestly, they will cost me way too much, or I will buy because its on 'clearance' .Forgetting that if I'm not going to use it even if it's on sale. It took me a few months to become a minimalist ,I'm now free for that bondage.🥰🥰

Talking about signalling Lamide, I think you need to a separate post about how you didn't get into consumerism living in Dubai because!!! People naturally seem to "rate" you based on what you wear.

Let me add to other aspects of life we see this happen, going by what I post more about( I create content informally around cooking): pots, pans, kitchen utensils, dinnerware etc. I only have 4 useful pots and pans and I was almost beating myself into buying more. But thankfully, I think my nomadic lifestyle has helped put me in my place.

If you are with the right man, he will enable you to spend abundantly and also save for the future. Women should not have to cut any spending, it's very expensive being a woman.
