I am wearing Panta sandals with Vibram soles this whole summer. Every day. In vacations, i am even hiking on quite rough terrain in my home country side in the south of france. Lot of rocks with sharp edges. Some Roman paved paths, too. 2000 old pavements in the mountains, quite disjointed as one can imagine. Romans were using sandals , right ? And i must admit that i enjoy it a lot ! My feet are at hard work, i fill my hankles straightening and becoming much stronger. Great sensations, kind of reborn well after 50 years old ! Thanks for your eye-opening videos.

Hey, way to go, Christophe! That sounds like an amazing adventure, I was super into Roman history back in high school. It's a wonder I didn't get into barefoot sandals back then, ha. Cheers to getting stronger, keep up the great work!

Hey, can you do a video on minimalist work boots? I'm fighting with my Birkenstock QS700s (planters agitation) and wondering of other alternatives and suggestions. Thanks!

A good alternative would be the Vivobarefoot Tracker Forest ESC kzitem.info/news/bejne/paiEmYSjrIRmopg if you want something higher cut, or the Magna ESC kzitem.info/news/bejne/yp-XqaZonopzeo4 for a mid-cut. Both have an extremely tough yet flexible sole and decently breathable uppers for all season use.

I just got a pair of these Mukis. I got them before I saw this review. They fit well and are nice looking. I like that they are very adjustable. I will wear them with toe socks(Injinji).I usually wear sandals with toe socks. Thanks for the review. Mr.Folts, you rule!

Hey Lisa, that sounds like a great idea for a little extra warmth/padding! I used to wear Birkenstocks in the winter with Smartwool socks in college, ha. People thought I was crazy, but it was super comfy!

Just to update on latest vid: I went with (meaning I bought in addition to 😢) the Toetems after the DLDs didn’t quite work out for me. Perils of ordering online I guess. The Blackbears are super comfortable and secure (well after one day walking around the house). They feel amazing I must say. How did you decide how much of the extra strap to cut off? I wish they came with elasticated/webbed strap fasteners like the DLDs. I like the idea that you can move the strap above the foot depending on the situation/exercise but this means the heel strap also changes in how I secure it. Either my straps have a bunch of unsecured extra material flapping about, or there is a bit less…can’t decide how that impacts where I cut off some of that excess strap to maintain aesthetics (and to a degree function) given I can see myself changing the configuration for walking vs hiking for example🤔

Yea, I do like DLD's strap fasteners. I have no idea what they're called, I can't find them on Amazon. For me, sliding the front strap doesn't change how tightly I set the back strap. I've left it the same since day one. I just slide my heel out the back without undoing to protect the velcro. With the front strap forward, they're looser, like a casual sandal, and more to the back they're tighter. Seems to work fine and I don't ever change the front velcro either. If you cut it, just err on the side of too long, because obviously you can't undo it.

I bought a pair of sandals .. hmm I wasn't that comfortable running in them .. I'm quite clumsy and I was worried I'd stub my toes.. they are nice for casual though .. I like the idea of the cork upper for casual .. 🥰

Yea, these are nice for hiking, but def do feel more geared toward casual use, rather than running. I've been running almost exclusively in the Toetem Alpha kzitem.info/news/bejne/w4tnyaubfn-biXY this summer. I was never a toe thong person, but the Alpha's are so soft, they've fully converted me. You just get more security with a thong, although open straps are fine for hiking/walking.

I am also an exact 10.5 and went with a 43 in this shoe, I knew to not go oversized in an open type shoes such as this. I am wondering why a second review of this sandal.

I always do two reviews. The first impression, which is when I've had if for only a few days. Then a "full" review with lots of outdoor footage after I've done more testing. Sometimes I even do a third "longterm" review after six months or so if I end up putting enough miles on a shoe/sandal enough to report back on durability.

I have a pair and love them! Mostly have used for casual, but took them hiking at a local wetland reserve a couple times. Having a flat foot; I prefer a little more width/less contouring out under the arch, but the straps give enough adjustment ability that I found a comfortable fit. Cork is a great feel, helps control moisture, doesn't pick up odors, and is easy to wipe clean. Only problem I had was when I scuffed the toe hiking, I ripped into the cork a little. I ended up fixing it with a little super glue and then ran a thin bead of super glue around the toe and heel edges of both sandals just to add a little bit of protection from future scuffing.

Great field report! Hadn't considered that about cork, but I could see it happening. Glad you were able to fix it with glue. Happy trails!

Hey Andrew how are you? Question man ? I like those sandals man. Do you think that the toes box & the toes strap would be wide enough for my feet 🦶 that are 6 1/2 inches wide? It really suck having toes that are Evenly straight across & it doesn't help that my toes are very fat and chubby. Someone today couldn't believe how fat & chubby & how extremely wide my feet 🦶 was. They asked me how wide was my big toe because it very wide & I told him that my big toe is 2" inches wide & the rest of the toes are lil over 1" inches wide & my foot is 6 1/2 inches wide. The guy couldn't believe that. He said that this is the widest foot he has ever seen . I just laugh & say I can believe that. & then he said to me I like the way your toenails are cut evenly straight across with just a lil bit of Clear toenail showing on your chubby fat wide toes especially your big toenail . I just laugh & said thanks you I appreciate that. I have to cut them like that because my toenails base is very wide & Evenly straight across. I don't like my toenails cut at the toenails base because of how it feels but I don't like my toenails long Either. I appreciate your opinion man. Good video buddy thanks you for sharing this video.

@@mackjenkins7721 Ha, I feel you, it's tough finding the right fit for different size/shaped feet. A cross strap is probably not what you want with extra-wide feet. I'd go with the Toetem Alpha bit.ly/3U4cIQp and make. sure to pick the "Extra-Wide" option at checkout. I was never a toe thong person, but the straps are so freakin' soft that I don't even notice them and it gives your toes way more freedom than with a cross strap. I only have the regular's and even those are quite wide. Another option would be the DLD Perception. kzitem.info/news/bejne/jo-cr52cpWJ9eKg You can send them a tracing of your foot and they'll make it exactly the shape you want.
