nate garner was born in 96, meaning his mom’s generation was probably coming of age in the late 80’s……….literally the decade defined by women entering the workforce, gaining “financial independence” (whatever that means within capitalism), and the rise of more overtly and openly sexual artists like madonna. these men literally live in a fantasy land of nostalgia for a time that never even existed

Yeah, it's always interesting to watch these guys realize that what they're describing is more than likely an unequal and at best emotionally exploitative relationship compared to the healthy versions of the ideals of the time frame they fetishize.... 😐🤡 Like my dude, you simply normalized an unhealthy relationship and are projecting the beliefs produced from your own lack of therapy onto "the passing of time" and "generational differences." Of course idolizing the white patriarchy in the process. It's interesting how these men never want to have a conversation with someone who will invite them to make their points make sense with actual facts and logic 🤔 I'd be more than open to having a conversation with Nate from a research-based relationship psychology perspective (no therapizing just references). I doubt he'd accept or make it through without a man-trum 😂

Ok first off, all independent adults should know how to prepare food for themselves. Second off, it's ok to want someone who wants to cook for you. What's NOT ok is forcing someone to do that because it's what you want. Not everyone is going to be exactly what you're looking for and that's ok.
@Kat_Creates
7 ай бұрын
Agreed but it's also unreasonable to want someone to want to cook for you EVERYDAY. Being a couple - especially one that lives together - is about dividing the work within the house so it's clean and no one is overwhelmed. Obviously it's up to the 2 people in the relationship to establish these sorts of things but to go into the dating scene looking for someone who will ALWAYS want to cook is an unreasonable expectation (especially when it is typically followed by the expectation to also plan the meals, buy the groceries, cook all the meals, and clean up afterwards).
@lanceelliott2504

@@Kat_Createsthe only way that it would make sense is if it was an arrangement like I've seen people do where it's like I never do the dishes but I always do the laundry or the living room is my responsibility but the bedroom is their responsibility. you know like it doesn't have to be completely 50/50 if it works. So like maybe they always cook but the other person does the dishes and plans the meals you know? But that's not what Nate Garner wants lmao.

"why are women always saying we want moms? We just want..." Describes women who act/are literally moms. The advice section: i totally understand. I read NSFW manga too and I don't want to share it with others because it breaks the fantasy/escape/immersion. I agree with Kurtis: you can also give him some manga suggestions that you have read. That way you are still sharing your interests, but not at the same time. Love the book club Idea, thats literally what I would suggest too.

For that NSFW manga reader- it sounds like manga was your own personal “me time” thing. My boyfriend works 40 hours a week and I stay home and cook and clean but he never expects me to get everything done and always have food ready for him and clean the house all by myself because we love each other??? Idk people like Nate always leave out the loving each other part of the relationships they want
@idontwantahandlethough

the problem is that when people say "traditional values", they *NEVER* mean the good parts of traditional values. Which makes sense, because "traditional values" refers to old values that we don't really abide by anymore because most of us have realized they're either not important or downright harmful. So in effect, the "traditional values" that are worth following are just called... values. Regular ol' values. I mean heck, in reality most values society abides by *are* "traditional values" in the sense that we've had those values for hundreds or thousands of years. I have never _once_ seen someone say they like "traditional values" and actually mean it in a good way. Sometimes they _think_ it's a good way, but it's not.

"basic women things". If cooking and laundry and stuff is "basic" ..and men (used to / some still do) see women as weak...why can't they also do the "basic women things" if they are so masculine and strong

claiming that you want women to cook for you because you want them to show that they love you is wild because he doesn’t want any form of showing affection that isn’t cooking for him so there’s clearly something separate about a women cooking for him that he enjoys or at least ideologically wants to happen outside of the showing of love thing

These “conservative” heel turns are so lazy and sloppy. He’s talking about wanting to go back to “conservative nuclear family with a stay at home mother” but he talks about having casual hookups and making girls breakfast in bed. They look at a 1950s commercial for microwaves and think it’s real. Imagine someone thinking a swiffer commercial from today is real life. Real 1950s housewives were getting a bottle broken over their head for burning the casserole lmao. Not to mention his mom was probably a working mother of the 90s and in no way traditional.

16:45 Besides the sexism and completely ignoring the fact that that almost an entire generation of women was unhappy, he’s ignoring the fact that women from his mom’s generation had men who provided 100% financially for them. If you’re not buying me a two-story colonial, I’m not washing your underwear.

To that hentai person - it's normal for people in committed relationships to want to maintain their individual sex/masturbation routines. That's just an important part of individuality and personal space for some people. Also reading with others just sounds difficult in general?? Anyway that book club idea does sound pretty fun though
