I stopped looking at shop goodwill for comics like 2 years ago because it’s full of horribly photographed bad condition books and when there is an actual good book it ALWAYS got over bid by at least 20-50% usually more, though, I recall spotting a legitimate Hulk 181 in a mixed lot a few years back and the front facing image only showed the top half of the front cover cause the rest was covered by another book, the rear images though were clear and the book was destroyed, looked like maybe a 1.0-1.5 at best and I don’t recall the exact lot price at close but it recall it was close to where a 7.0-8.0 would’ve ended up and I just recall thinking to myself-“there is legitimate insane idiots bidding on this site”

I feel sorry for the winning bidder especially since there was no dubious intentions to deceive like many bad apples like on ebay. If it seems to good to be true probably is. Keep making videos like this as everyone can use more knowledge and know one knows everything. My favorite line on eBay is my loss is your gain, whenever you see that phrase you are being scammed.

Yeah, when I was a middle-school kid collecting comics in the '70s there were warnings about scammers selling DC Famous First Edition comics minus the cardstock outer covers. The specific approach I recall learning about was that the scammer would park a vehicle at a hotel where a comic convention was being held. Then he'd wave down a convention-goer and spin some tale about needing money urgently and being ready to sell a few Golden Age keys to raise cash.

@@ScarecrOmega Well sure, that is very important. However, you are covered by eBay in a case like that. Your first step is always to contact the seller and give them this information. They have a chance to correct the mistake by offering you a discount, a replacement, a refund or to send you shipping label for a return. Ebay sides with the buyers 99.90% of the time. Even in a situation like this, where the majority of the correct information is included, they might even side with the buyer.

Years ago, before people found Goodwill auctions, I bought a lot of collectibles/comics there for cheap. It was nothing to buy short boxes with good silver, bronze modern keys for $50-$70. I picked up a 9.0 Batman Adv. 12 and a 9.8 Y the Last Man (uncraded at the time) for pennies. Now, there are no deals to be had. Bidders are WAY out of the park now, so I rarely, if ever look there anymore.

I have messaged Goodwill a number of times trying to inform them of listings that were incorrect; they often claim they have an in-house professional (depends on location). ALSO, when buying “lots” from them, they tend to wrap books with rubber bands 😡😡 even if you send them a request to refrain from doing so… they still do it! Lastly, they ONLY ship FedEx, which has messed up many orders. Great video.
