Movement I (Allegro moderato e serioso) performed in 1971 on the Schlicker organ at the Cathedral of the Incarnation in Garden City, NY. The somewhat over-the-top youthful interpretation was inspired by Virgil Fox’s recording, originally released on LP as Command Classics (CC11036SD).
Unfortunately, one of the mics directed at the main chamber was not working. The remaining mic was directed at the chancel to pick up the two positiv cases on either side of the altar - hence the pedal 4’ Choral Bass en chamade effect. Despite this (as well as a few clams), I’ve posted this as another sonic example of this relatively short-lived instrument. After all, it’s not every day that one gets to hear celeste stops with chiff.
