Sorry folks, the measurement of Cocoa powder should be 2 teaspoons (not 2 tbsp). It was incorrectly mentioned in the video.
Jowar / Juwar / Jonna / Sorghum flour is gluten free and makes a quick and healthy breakfast or snack whenever we want. Sorghum flour is a good addition to hot Chocolate which makes the latter creamy and get a custard-like consistency. Let’s go into details:
Servings - 1 to 2
Ingredients:
1. Sorghum flour / Jowar / Juwar / Jonna - 2 tbsp
2. Cocoa powder - 2 tsp
3. Milk - 1 and 1/2 cup
4. Sugar - 1 tbsp or according to taste
5. Cinnamon powder - A pinch (optional but recommended)
5. Walnuts - As per your taste.
Procedure:
1. Boil 1 and 1/4 cup milk in a sauce pan.
2. In the meanwhile, mix Jowar flour (Jonna pindi) and cocoa powder in 1/4 cup milk.
3. Reduce the flame to medium low and stir the Jowar mixture into the boiled milk.
4. Cook it for 5-6 mins. Keep stirring continuously.
5. Switch off the flame and add a pinch of cinnamon powder and incorporate it into the mixture.
6. Add Walnuts to the porridge and enjoy.
Notes:
1. Sugar can be replaced with maple syrup or any other sweetener. I tried jaggery but I didn’t like the combination of jaggery and cocoa mixture.
2. Do not get confused with corn flour or makki ka atta. Jowar (Sorghum) is a different one and belongs to the millet category.
3. It forms lumps quickly, so keep stirring on low flame.
