Only a true artist like Chris Cornell can take some of the ugliest aspects of life and create something so beautiful. His loss is deeply felt.

"Bit down on a bullet now had a taste so sour, I had to think of something sweet..." is NOT a song about a dead crow. That's a man's broken heart over bad love.

Blind Melon opened at the Jones Beach Pavilion. The rain was almost cued up because it began as the song no rain began. Great ending to a set. The middle band is Soundgarden. The rain intensifies into a full blown thunderstorm. Everlasting memories of seeing lightning hit the Atlantic Ocean whilst hearing screams of Jesus Christ Pose. Chris was joking "Hey, Mother Nature is giving us a light show" and "I'm amazed you guys are still keeping that lit in this rain or maybe it's coming from Neil's dressing room". Soundgarden rocked the entire storm. The skies cleared and Neil Young came on and closed the show. A truly magical experience

The thing that blows me away, is that THIS song is not considered one of the greatest rock vocal achievements by ANYONE of all time. The way it starts in a low timbre then middle, then screaming high. This is an achievement of brilliant vocal architecture. And DAMN!!! What a voice. I do not care about the meaning of the song, since it says suicide, and we all know the story. (Don't get me wrong, the meaning is important after all (especially when he sings "feel for you") )The only thing that matters to me is that no other singer could have pulled this off. I mean, listen to this and think about who were the greatest rock singers of all times. This is a huge example of why Chris was one of them.

I was still in the Marine Corps when I picked this CD up. I had recently got back from Somalia. So 4th of July had an everlasting affinity for me. I had already owned Badmotorfinger by then for a couple years from my days in Okinawa, and I couldn't believe my ears how much different they sounded in between those albums. Boot camp from the Down on the Upside LP is another of my favorites. One of the best bands EVER!!!

Everyone always thinks Chris' songs are about love. Well they are, but not THAT kind of love...

No one sings like you anymore, Chris. It's still hard to hear your voice knowing that you're no longer here.

RIP Chris Cornell and my childhood. I used to ride the backroads of south Georgia higher than hell listening to Superunknown with my friends almost every night as a teenager. What a musician, what a voice and what a human being. Damn.

Those drums coming in hard at the break are huge sounding like Bonham, Matt Cameron is a beast on the skins.
