This is by far the best and easiest recipe I've ever tried for General Tso's chicken. It literally tastes better than what is served at many Chinese take-outs. I used marinated chicken thighs. Delicious!!

Flavor profile looks yummy. any chance to make this a bit healthier - substitution for deep frying? reduce/substitute the sugar - 3 TBL seems like a lot? Look forward to trying this. Making your trandoori chicken now. thanks for the great videos.

Anyone know the portable burner they used? Don’t have a gas burner stove top for a wok.

We noticed the recipe on your website, and the recipe in the video, have significantly different amounts of sugar for the sauce. Following the recipe on the site comes out WAY saltier/vinegary than is intended

I like that you always say a little story about the food. Those chicken looks soo crispy from the starch and than the lovely sticky sauce. Good tip to reduce the temp before you putting the corn starch in. Well done guys

This channel is one of the first that got me interested in sous vide cooking. I purchased the Anova Pro model a couple weeks back when it was on sale for 50% off. $200 for a $400 cooker sounded like I couldn’t pass it up. Worth every penny. I’ve cooked some amazing restaurant quality meals for the last two weeks, and this one is going into the recipe book. Excited to try it out. Thank you so much for your down to earth content.

@@KindofCooking I’ve made pork ribs twice, pork loin several times (bought a 10 lb loin and separated into four pieces), pork tenderloin, pork chops, chicken breast (boneless whole for salads), New York strip steaks, and prime sirloin steaks. I did lamb chops, and a leg of lamb, and this past weekend I just finished up a 48 hour brisket. And crap...so much Creme brûlée. My wife and I have had it 4 times now, and every cookout will need a batch in the future. I see some people get mixed results but I think the key is to vacuum seal the jars in bags to guarantee no water getting in them. I’ve found that reheating temperature sensitive leftovers is wonderful with this thing as well. Leftover shrimp from a Chinese place in a vac bag, reheated without overcooking is like same day Chinese. Honestly it is my absolute favorite way of cooking. My full setup is: cheapest vac sealer on amazon, 27 qt rubbermade tub, sous vide balls, sous vide sleeve for 27 qt rubbermade tub, Anova pro. To sear, I almost exclusively use my asphalt torch. Same thing as a weed burner torch. This is a trick I learned from SousVideEverything’s channel...it makes an amazing sear. Something like 6000 degrees. I’m so happy to have your channel to reference. Keep it up, seriously can’t wait to try this one.

Would your combo dredge sous vide technique work with all forms of fried chicken? Or would there be too much liquid in the bag for some? Normally I only add salt prior to SV and add the marinade during the sear and or as a glaze afterwards. Though for frying it sounds interesting since all ingredients are absorbed by the cornstarch (breading?).

I actually borrowed the idea from someone who did Korean fried chicken. I think it would work, but It might not be the same texture that you're expecting, say for a southern fried chicken.

You may have created the the perfect General Tso's, fixing all the problems we see with most restaurant versions: A light crispy crust and tender chicken. I might add some red pepper flakes to kick the heat up further than the usual level.

Yeah, cornstarch slurry gets tricky. Need to do it in low heat or it would just be giant clumps. Glad you liked the taste though!
