Hello, what a beautiful cat you have ! I would like to askyou a question i am looking into getting a sphynx kitten, i just cared for my neigbours sphynx when they went out of town for a week and fell in love completely, but i have a 13 year old cat ( not a sphynx ) , i noticed you had an older cat of your own too when you got the baby sphynx, how did they adjust to eachother? My cat was not at all interested in the sphynx i temporarely cared for, he was not angry at it but seemed less happy and annoyed in general, i dont want to get a kitten and for my older cat to be unhappy the rest of its life, or is it normal they get upset in the beginning and end up being friends and ajusting well? Thankyou already for reading this long explanation Best Yana

Yana, in response to your question about my cats adjusting to each other I offer the following. When I brought Kojak home from the breeder, I kept the two cats separate and gradually brought them together a little at a time over the course of several days. Our older cat was maybe 5 years old at the time so he adjusted fairly well to having a kitten around. I would think that an older cat that has had the run of the house for the last 13 years may potentially have more issues. My mother has an older cat and recently had to adjust to having a kitten around, and like you said in your post, her older cat did seemed to be a tad annoyed and a little grumpy. There were no major cat fights but we did notice that her older cat seemed a little bothered / frustrated. It has been several months and nothing much has changed - the two cats tolerate each other but I wouldn't say they have become buddies. My older cat has moved in with my daughter since this video was taken. Charlie was my daughter's cat so when she moved into her own place, she took him with her, but he frequently comes to visit and Kojak and Charlie are friends, but they tend to keep to themselves vs. hanging out with each other. I'm not sure I'm answering your question well, but I guess it really all depends on the personalities of the two cats. I totally understand your concern about making your older cat unhappy - I would probably feel the same way. The good news is that your cat wasn't aggressive around the Sphynx kitten - so it sounds like he's the type of cat who would probably adjust okay. Sphynx cats are very clingy and always want to be around their owners. They are the ultimate "lap cat", so if you tend to be very close to your current cat, then you may need to make sure to "share the love" so to say - otherwise there may be some jealousy. I hope things work out for you and that you will have the joy of having a Sphynx in your family soon. I'm happy to answer any other questions you may have. Tina

grandepuce8 thank you so much Tina, that was helpfull, my older cat kuzya is a bit of a distant calm and to himself cat who likes an additional backrub but never too long , he likes his space. I do think he could adjust to the kitten, they were close to eachother in the same rooms for around a week and not much happened accept for one staredown and a hiss, theres enough rooms in the house aswell, i guess i will sleep on it a few nights and see, thankyou again
