I have these on the my T Line mid-raise M bar (with is notoriously lacking mounting space) and they're pretty amazing. Didn't need to file or cut anything to fit them but I'm using stock levers. I hadn't realise until you mentioned it but yes, I do find inner grips much more comfortable than having them at the bar-ends. My arms are bent and shoulders more relaxed when holding the Spirgrips.

Regarding the Ergon grips w/bar ends, these are used to aid in climbing hills rather than providing another hand position (although one can use it as another way to position the hands I guess).

I bought the grips for my S bar brompton on their official website, after seeing your video here and the clip of you on their instagram page that they use to advertise the grips ( love your channel and I do not blame you at all). Or should I say: I paid for them on may 3rd, but never received the actual product. They do not reply my emails, the support on their website doesn’t work (always unavailable), they basically stole my money and ghosted me. I can not even get the answer if they sent out my purchase or not. So I’m 70 bucks short and have a wrist pain, that I can not fix😂. FML

I installed the regular non carbon and the right side will hit the metal bar that attaches the front fender to the wheel when folded So I changed the angle of the grip so it would clear and then set the angle of the left one to match. Now the left side will rub the front wheel when folded and will stop it from rolling. So I adjust the grip so it clears both sides but now it’s pointing too high up which causes stress on my hands. The opposite of what’s supposed to happen. I’ll experiment a little more but this mod might be a lose for me.

I don't have any experience with putting them onto the M Handlebar. The best way to test it is make a "cardboard" copy and postion them where you will most likely place them and see if it folds. I have the 22.2mm.

As a Brompton is a special tool intended for becoming very small, when being folded, I have seen the handlebar- "Horns" on Brazilian "Chrisbybike", Christine Stocklers Brompton, ends up on both sides of the front wheel, when the bike is folded. How does these horns behave during that? I must admit that I only use a pair of traditional, round leather grips with a "Brompton" print on the leather and locking rings in both ends😁! They come in two sizes and on my M/H shape handlebar I only have room for the short ones because of the handlebar bends. Finn. Denmark

I found that on my stock T-Line Urban the right grip squarely hits the support strut for the front mudguard when folding. To clear the Spirgrip needs to be much more vertical, but then it wouldn’t match the other side (which has to be flatter to keep the gearshift accessible). Not great.

Have decided not to purchase a Brompton because it's clear it needs thousands of dollars of "upgrades" to meet your specs. I'm afraid the B. is a one trick pony: it folds and can fit in small spaces. But beyond that, other bikes outshine it in many ways. For me, the "cockpit" of the Brompton is too tight, too vertical. I'm only 5'6" but I need more space.
@BromptonROK
Жыл бұрын
I'm curious what other bikes you think outshine the Brompton and in what ways? I am 5'8" and have an S-bar setup on a 2-speed superlight, which doesn't feel tight at all. Fits me like a glove. Other folding bikes look clunky in my opinion. Yes, I've made several minor upgrades, but not "thousands of dollars." With all due respect to BFT, his specs are thru the stratosphere. Enviable, but far from the norm :)
