That is a split ring wheel,a split rim Firestone wheel is a two piece wheel,much more dangerous,and maybe its obvious but make sure the tire is deflated,I was taught to stick a piece of wire in the valve stem after the core is removed just to be sure Regards from Maine

thank, you for you're video. my, 73, Ford F700 Dump trk has these type rims on it. the only thing that I do is take the wheel off of the Dump trk and take it to the trk. tire shop and pay them to do the dangerous work.

If you have a michelin inner tube in the tire you do not need to fight the valve stem. Just turn it one half turn and it will not be in the way of removing the tire from the rim. The brass inflation valves on michelin inner tubes can be changed. We only use michelin inner tubes in all our truck tires.

Very true. The first time I changed tyres I had to put the wheel under the truck and put a jack between the tyre and the chassis using the jack to break the bead....

We WILL have an argument off camera. These guys are so fucking British! Lol Too bad they never showed what he was talking about- putting the tire under the rear hitch or the frame, and using the jack between the tire and vehicle, which uses the weight of the truck to break the bead.
@frankdavidson9675
2 жыл бұрын
i think I know what he is talking about lay the tire at rear of veh.so tire in beneath hitch now place a jack on the tire top of jack will under the hitch as you jack up the weight of veh. will press down breaking bead just another way of doing it.

Fettucini Eyez thanks for your thoughts, based on what experience? I have been touring constantly for almost 15 years, 72 countries, over 200,000 kms, 172 punctures (self fixed), 24 new tyres (self fitted), tyres rotated every 10k kms. I may not know what I am doing but I am experienced enough to know how to do it.

As long as the tire is deflated, it's totally safe. Inflating the tire after, that's another story.

All wrong? Where’s YOUR video? This is how it’s done, other than I would use some liquid soap to make it easier.
