#gardenpest #badbug@pa.gov #insect This is what the last instar and adult stages of the spotted lanternfly (lycorma delicatula) look like. The nymph has a black body with red patches and white spots. The adult has a black body with grayish wings with black spots and a brick like pattern towards the rear. Two bright orange nodes are at the front on the head. These plant hoppers are very invasive and should be dispatched ASAP. They feed on crops such as grapes, hops, soy, stone fruits and many others. It is a toxic and destructive plant hopper introduced from Asia but it has been used in some forms of medicine apparently.
