Love your comments! But I'm going to get negative remarks on this but here goes: I'm don't feel trendy with jean jackets, so many dresses are shown with this thrown over it, it just doesn't seem to go together for me. Denim over a dress seems to dress it down. Just wear it out to the barn lol

At sixty five years old and an empty nester who has lost seventy pounds through diet and exercise in a year I am throwing out the old clothes or donating them! and bringing in the new. I used to shop on QVC (sight unseen) and the off the rack clothes were made with cheap and overpriced materials. I even ended up with clothes that 'one day' I would get into. So, the main problem is that the pieces in the outfit should not pick up on colors in the individual components? I thought every color should have a "sister" to pull the item together. for example, if a blouse has green, the shoe or purse or a detail in the pants or jacket should have a bit of green to pull the whole look together. Is that a dated concept? I just retired and starting the journey of joining the rest of the world. I love your videos and your great examples! Thank you so much for the help!
@symphonyjohnson1570

I’m 34 and I love to be matchy. I wear prints often and I always pick up one of the colors in another piece. I have a very intentional personal style, and I’m not concerned with looking modern. People usually think I’m in my 20s. I don’t think that not looking totally modern will age a person, but I know a lot of people will disagree with that.
@NadaManley

@@symphonyjohnson1570 you do you for sure! At 34 you can get away with a lot more than I can, and there is definitely a return to some matching. Thanks for the comment!

Some matching is totally fine but the idea that we have to have a sister color to pull the look together is considered dated. That doesn't mean that it won't come in again, but when it does, it always looks different. There is more than just the color that makes these dated, and there are times when pulling a color out of a print works, but these guidelines help us steer away from the biggest issues. Thanks so much for the comment!
@edennis8578
Жыл бұрын
@@symphonyjohnson1570 I think a lot depends on how naturally formal your style is. My style is fairly formal; I cannot, cannot, cannot wear the kind of ruffly clothes that Nada wears; that style looks ridiculous on me. I'm a Soft Dramatic Kibbe type; I need some softness in my look, but those bright, flowery prints with ruffles like she's wearing in the video looked wrong on me when I was 12! I'm certainly not going to look good in that kind of thing at 68. I don't do "cute" like she's talking about. I do classic, elegant, refined. My face has a lot of yang in it; think Tilda Swinton. My face requires a certain amount of formality, but not too much or I look severe. I absolutely do the one item that pulls a color out of a print. By the way, it's not outdated. Just last week I read a fashion article about doing exactly that, and they said you MUST do it.
