My family owned a little general store in the late 1800 early 1900 and we had a farm here. Well through the years the farm is gone but we kept a huge garden. Me and my grandfather would get out there and grow. The last year he was alive a grew it fit him so he could use his electric wheelchair to come and look at the garden. You remind me of my grand father. I plant directly in to the garden but when I planted a week ago two days later came a huge rainstorm and a cold front. I think imma have to replant the whole garden! It’s whatever though! Love the videos. I know this is from years ago but I’m still getting enjoyment from it.

Ditto!!!!! 3 years now...same story, and I’ve tried EVERY trick I’ve been able to find. Planting after July 1 last year I was able to get about 10 zucchini before frost. One year I cut them out and buried the root nodes at each junction above the cut and the plant lived...got 3 squash. Thank God we have a farmers market when I get discouraged! This year, if it ever stops raining long enough for hubby to finish my small 8x 12 greenhouse, I’m going to plant inside the greenhouse against the walls( under the metal mesh work tables). If I put up magnetic closing screen over door and windows I’m hoping to keep moths OUT!!! I will plant some decoy plants in regular garden as bait for the moths. Wish me luck!

GC, I am not Ron, but I will answer your question. When using the squash bloom, I use the whole bloom, I do not tear it apart. I leave a little bit of stem just to hold it by, but not to eat the stem. I make a thin batter such as for Japanese tempura, dip the bloom into it to get a complete coating and then into the skillet for frying. Later I will make a video on how I do it and of course taste test in the video. Thanks for asking. OAG

I've never had fried squash although I've heard about it all my life and always wanted to try it that way. I'm going to try it your way this summer. I'm sure I'll really like because I love yellow crook neck squash. I never liked the straight neck it lacks the flavor. Imo. My granny always fixed crook neck steamed with sweet onion til soft then she added fresh real cream and a hunk of butter, salt & pepper. Then she let that stay warm on the stove for the flavors to marinade together. And man oh man is that good. Succotash made the same way. The juice of the cream & butter with either veg was so good that we put the succotash on a slice of bread and ate it that way too. I grew up on a homestead in southern Maryland but I live near the Little River Canyon now since 2007. 😊

your numbers are good. I also have a once a year check that run the same tests. I have my doc run Vitamin D , B12 and bone density as well. I am convinced that the #1 Oil is Avacado Oil. I usually only saute onion, garlic, peppers with greens. I either roast or bake my vegges if i don't eat them raw. My most favorite however are soups. I make my own bone broth (48-72 hr process) and add my pureed yams, sweet pots, pumpkin, carrots, butternut squash, tomatoes, onion, garlic, ginger, tumeric root, fennel and greens for the base. I usually put enough up for 6 months and then I just add fresh veggies when time to use. Sometimes in winter I just driink the broth. I also make for cancer patients and those trying to lose weight (church and family) As I mentioned it is everyones choice as to the quality of life they lead. I help many achive their goals, recovery or just answer questions on understanding blood work, nutrition and health. I would not speak to your lifestyle. I mearly questioned the way you prepared squash. forgiven becasuse you asked but totally not necessary... thank you. Happy gardening and good health.

Those petals are delicacies to chefs. They use them in salads, sauté them, and cover with batter to deep fry. All considered very expensive side dishes. If you have farm stand selling excess produce, add your pets from the squash to see if folks will buy them. Best I ever had squash cut in slices, cover in batter and fried like onion rings. Restaurant in DC area famous for its deep fried zucchini and yellow squash.
