Both Ronon _and_ Teyla were smiling when Rodney mentioned "ridiculously attractive" people on television. Tapping on the fourth wall, perhaps?

I like this one a lot, but mostly because I love the dynamic between John and Weir in the show-they have their power struggles, but they also give me some Mulder/Scully vibes where their trust and friendship is solid and there’s always kind of a sense that something more might be around the corner. I think the spouse and kiss things were part of the writers leaning into it for the fans who liked their bond. I can see where folks might not care for this one, but I think it’s fun.

I don’t care what Weir says, even if I didn’t know it was a trick, I would never allow someone to possess me, just like SG1 wouldn’t let any Tok’Ra blend with them. I don’t want anyone else in my head. It’s terrifying enough inside there.

Seems weird to hear Ronan sound as though he has never seen a TV before seeing as Setida was technologically more advanced than Earth. His people built skyscrapers and energy weapons but did it all without screens? Or they had screens but no one ever thought to use them to broadcast entertainment? (the very reason humans invented them in the first place...) Also by now Shepard would have a TV in his quarters in order to watch DVDs...
@Darkfrost7456

Seteda wasn't more advanced than earth. I think its roughly around 1900s. They didn't build energy weapons that's traveller tech. You can see in the flash backs they are using something more akin to our guns. Also you can't compare any species to earth because we developed entirely on our own with no outside interference for thousands of years. Where as most plants we encounter specially in Pegasus knew about and engaged in trade via the stargate. This would muddy the technological advancement chart.

The first time I watched this was really weird; because I'd just seen an anime episode which had pretty much the straight version of the romance plot. With the complication in that one being that the possessed people were both men, and one of them kept reasserting control because of latent homophobia complicating their feelings. Seeing this one right after made the subversion hit harder :)
@StaubZuStaub

Realistically the SGA team wouldn't have lasted their first month in the Pegasus galaxy. They're constantly messing with things they know nothing about with no safe guards in place. Ever. Even when they knew they messed up, they doubled down and handed John over for possession 😄 Hating spin offs is my part time job, I decided 😂

the thing I hate about this "Mr & Mrs Smith" episode is that the hunt could have easily been avoided by just having the Daedalus beam both Shepard and Weir to the brig instead of going searching for them.

@@RagitsuYeah, checked the scene now; he says "in a wide orbit around the solar system"; the explanation would then be, I guess, that when the things escalated to the point when they might want to call on the Daedalus, possessed-Sheppard's already shot the ZPM terminal to hell... a good-faith interpretation would be that it all happened too quickly for them to react, and then the Daedalus wouldn't have arrived in time to help them anyway (once possessed-Weir was in charge of the ventilation). ... Stargate does of lot of this "could be this, so it's fine" kind of waving-away of things that might easily solve problems (read "plot-points"), which is one of the things I most love about it; not like these days, where, on many occasions in many different shows, you are left to assume the characters are simply dumb. Or, well, maybe it's just my bias and there's tons of stuff like that in SG, but I've not heard it yet. Cheers, btw.
