This 35 min video reminded me of every cold morning start when I had an Orion with the exact same 1.6D. Funny enough - when that engine locked up - I swapped it for a 1.8TD. Thanks for the memories, loved that car

I live the same shaming battle with my 1.9TD indirect diesel volkswagen. It starts with 1 glow cycle, but it puffs and runs so rough and smokes because cold start. 1 glow plug is bad. I changed 3. The last one is too difficult to change because it's behind the fuel pump

I love the fact that someone has converted it to the 1.6 Diesel! When i saw the engine bay i already thought "something´s wrong" and then read your description. ;) We had the 1.6 on the previous generation Escort (1987) and it was indestructable, also the sound is stuck in my head since then. Love the singy noisy, much nicer then the slightly grumpy sound of the 1.8. PS: can´t wait to see the detailing video once your winter is over.

Great Job. It was very hard to get it working but you did it once again you proved that you know what you are doing. 👍 My dad had the same escort but it was sedan and 1.6 petrol I am sure. I remember the very first smell when I get inside the car. We lived in Bulgaria and it was winter like - 20° and the escort aways started from the first time. It was petrol but I like the diesel. He used to drift in the snow with the escort. Great memories thank you for reminding me this feeling and I can smell the smoke from here 😂👍👍🍺

Appreciate the English subtitles (especially the jack with bad pump seal- 5 hours later... I know that feeling!) That looks really super solid for a Mk5 body, the scuttle, wing bottoms and even around the filler cap I didn't notice any gaping holes. Must have been well loved, and well worth saving too.

I remember that in a nearby house here in my neighborhood in Buenos Aires Argentina there was one of these. I asked and they told me that it was a German Ford Escort (I don't know if this one is also German), according to its owner it wasn't working because something was broken in its engine. I remember that it remained abandoned in the garden of the house for a long time, apparently nobody wanted to buy it because it is known here that spare parts for imported vehicles are very expensive and difficult to obtain. On the other hand, the newest model of this series that was manufactured here in South America in Brazil had an overwhelming success!

I have bad experiance in hot days no ,but when start cold times same things . And i was change everything service on time , plugs , starter good and again no . But i learn something when the level oil is a little bit low they will not start ,and i see on this ford engine mounts are bad this is one reason more why they don’t start at right time . Because engine level is not in right position … Respect my friend i love ur channel . 👌🏻

Nice Escort. Quite high-spec CL trim level. It has the same seat upholstery as the 1992 Sierra 1.8 LX I used to have. Looks nice with its Series 1 Orion Ghia wheel trims too. It would be great to see this disaster-detailed and then returned to the road. It certainly looks straight enough.

In Germany the CL was the base model of the MK5 Escort, but i know that the trim levels depend on the country you live in. On the Mk4 it startet with the "C", the CL was just slightly better equipped (full wheel covers, softer headrests, rear wiper, rear foglight).

Another car lives to drive another day! All it needs is a good power washing/detail and a set of new tires. It's weird seeing a car with a diesel engine instead of gasoline because here in the US It's pretty rare to have a diesel powered car. Diesels usually power trains, semi's and medium/heavy duty trucks here.
