Every song is this album is a selection of greatness. 3rd studio album released in 1974 and was the last album released while they were touring, which received critical and commercial success. "Rikki Don't Lose That Number" from this album helped to boost their popularity back onto radio play. The album was released on CD in 1987 and remastered in 1999 for re-release. This song is just phenomenal with the great Steely Dan sound. Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and Greybearded Music Man. Great choice. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦

HarriBest is totally spot on with his interpretation of this song in regards to how cheeky it is and the bands sense of humor. The rest too, but he really understands the most important aspect of the band from the beginning. Steely Dan could do that because they have always been so confident in their abilities. That led to some arrogance but who cares. I can't imagine my life without their music.

Thank you so much for this. I too love this song. I think it has religious references, the "demon at the door, in the morning won't be there no more" is from the Bible. I think the Major Dudes reference means not only Jesus, but also Moses, Mohammad, Buddha, and Krishna, all as Major Dudes; and shows that all the major religions teach this concept. "Any minor world" means the daily events that happen in the life of an individual soul.
