ok so i really don't understand how anyone can dislike her. She's not self-absorbed at all. She seems like a really sweet person and it's a great thing that she loves her own books so much because if she didn't love the story or characters so much then the books would not have turned out as great as they did. She is like my hero, i hope to write a book someday that interests people as much as hers do.

Listen, guys. I am a writer in progress. I just saddens me to see people who say such rude, mean things. As my father always said, "If you have nothing good to say, don't say anything." If you don't think Stephenie is a good author, then keep that to yourself. She is one of the biggest authors out there and she's doing better than you. She does deserve some credit!

I've never seen her publisher. But I'm picturing a little girl, pigtails, pink bopeep type dress, texting on her diamond studded cell phone in one hand, hugging an autographed Taylor Lautner picture in the other, screaming at the top of her annoying lungs, "I WANT VAMPIRES TO BE GLITTERY IN THE SUN!!!!"

Even if the character is the definition of a Mary-Sue, which most writers work very hard to avoid, myself included. In fact, Mary-Sues tend to get you in trouble when writing for English courses, or other such classes.

For all those who constantly hit about bad grammar and language use in the Twilight Saga one might want to remember that the story is told through Bella's point of view. As a writer (no not a famous one), I have written many a story purposely putting in bad grammar and even incorrect spelling to give the character whose point of view I'm writing in more of a character. It is a very effective form of writing, although critics may find it only as something they can critic on.

I think what the problem is that all the attention that goes to Stephenie's work means that other better, budding writers don't get any help. They don't even get published. Not saying this because I want to write good work. I'm saying this because I've seen good writers be overshadowed by Stephenie Meyer, who admits her work isn't that good.

Many people are right, on the other hand, about the terrible way in which The Twilight Saga was written, mechanics wise. Her character developement, too, is predictable, but it is based off of a dream. Not that that is much of an excuse. I don't attempt to write like Mrs. Meyer. In fact, I almost use her books as a guide of what not to do, but she did connect to a large audience and addicted millions of fans by creating a character everyone can relate with.

Changed the world? Has anyone heard of JR Tolkin, J.K. Rowling, or George Lucas? All people who have created far better fantasy and worlds then Stephanie Meyer could ever even dream of (literately). This women has changed nothing but for a bunch of little girls to think its ok to go with the first guy they ever meet in their lives and drop everything for that one guy including their family, which is not okay at all.

@BookFantasyWriter As an aspiring author myself I get where you're coming from, but after having read the entire series myself I honestly do not understand how it got published, just judging by the sheer volume of factual errors, cliche turns of phrase, rampant misuse of punctuation, and general poor use of logic. I hate to sound so disparaging, but I've sarcastically joked before that Smeyer gives me hope: if she got published, then surely I can!
@nearfall66

Give Meyer some props guys, we can ignore her terrible formatting,language use and grammar for her sheer character development. We all know how difficult it is to write a series based on random characters interacting with a Mary Sue teenager, and a Brooding lover hero! Plus, it is popular with young teenagers, we all know they are the best critics!

But BOTTOM LINE: If she was a horrible author then all the publicity world wide wouldn't be going on.

No, I'm serious but that doesn't excuse it entirely, I'll admit that. She has a lot of malapropisms that are obviously NOT meant to be malapropisms. I've discovered other mistakes as well as simple as the word "backpack", which she writes as "back pack". That's just retarded. But it IS and effective form of writing, especially when writing through a young person's point of view. For example, many people say "I could care less" when it should be "I couldn't care less".

@A7xEmma I agree A7x and it is clear that you have functional mind unlike the fans of the Twilight saga. Yes Meyer is indeed a very lucky bad writer. The only positive thing I can say is that she works hard and shovels her shit with energy and focus. While on a backpacking trip I tried to read Twilight I really did...honest. Unfortunately it was so lame, boring, contrived and uninteresting that I ended up using the crumpled pages of the book for kindling to start our campfires.

Ugh, Ryan Seacrest can be the worst sycophant. If I had a young daughter, I would discourage her from reading 'Twilight' because it glorifies abusive relationships (it's OK as long as the guy is hot and hurts you out of "love"), and suggests that girls will be adored for having no personality, being selfish, needing a man to want her, acting like a useless imbecile, whining, and giving up her identity to be with a guy. Just F---ing great.

Have all of Meyer's books been recieved positively by critics? Has Meyer ever been richer than the queen of England? Has Meyer created a new generation of readers? Has Meyer ever been praised by someone more famous than teenage girls? Has Meyer created something completely original and creative, spawning the most popular franchise of all time? The answer to all of those are no. Meyer has nothing on JK Rowling and she never will. Stephenie Meyer, please, just stop writing.
