No, absolutely wrong. Steves voice is by far the best in the music business. Journey without Steve is like The Police without Sting. Arnel has its own way of singing but he will never make us forget where Steve Perry took Journey, way up there. Now is case closed.

@lixdrei ...cont In the early years Journey toured like hell. When Steve's hip needed replacing during TBF ERA..Neal Schon..was to inmature and Impatient to wait for it to be done and actually thought he could re-place Steve Perry THE VOICE! He interviewed singers to re-place Steve and then being to gutless himself , he had Jonathan Cain to call Steve and give him the ultamatium to come back now or be re-placed. Like Steve Perry said...his surgery was not a group decision.

Mr. Perry, if you read these posts, I am one person that will be in line waiting for your release! I have wondered why you haven't at least made an appearance on American Idol, I know Randy Jackson speaks highly of you, I would have loved to see you as a guess host, a few singers in the past have chosen Journey material. Because if truth be told, you are the ultimate American Idol no doubt, at least for my generation!

He will not do that because he believes that no one should or can judge someone else's passion. He said he was passed over so many times and a lot of times he had to talk his way into a gig. So because "Herbie believed in me", he doesn't feel its right for someone else's passion to be killed because of someone else's prejudice.

@zeratulalbo Oh I agree the magic 5 were/are kickass musicians, but I think Neal was the jealous one with the Big Ego. He STILL has a big ego. He ACTUALLY took a picture of his penis and sent it to a woman I know. While stringing her along....he got married briefly....then dumped the wife for Real Housewives of D.C.s Michaele Salahi. All within a short period. He's a sleeze bag. His ego also makes him think that it's alright to string women along.

He sounds so authentic. He seems like a friend you could sit and talk to for hours. His life and his career got out of balance and he needed some serious downtime. What he has experienced has made him very mature. Best of luck to him.

I like how Steve gracefully bowed out from something that was truly his passion even as popular as journey was he listened to his body and heart, left in his prime to enjoy other venues in this short life we're given, as he said he's older now and we can all agree the body can't do the moves it could do in your much younger years, he wants to get back to where he started and enjoy in peace what's left of his life in private in his own way and time, especially since he's given us decades of his time....

Looking back, the Journey split was the evolution of a group of people. Think about your personal workplace. Steve Perry, Neal, Jonathan, Steve Smith, Greg, and Ross in the late 70's and 80's were the perfect storm of Rock n' Roll. All were at the top of their game and very talented. They are the band of my high school experience and a blessing to us all.

I can relate to what he says about writing, giving himself the right to be stupid, and being his own worst critic. Writing is brutal, because your judgement on it is ever changing. It looks cheaper and cheaper, as well as less relevant than you initially thought. Sometimes you don't even know what to believe when people tell you they like it. It can be flattering, or you wonder if they are telling the truth.

Neil Schon is one of the best guitarist that I have ever heard and I am absolutely in awww with his perfection to play the guitar, but to be honest I think he is a rude and hateful person. He is a complete ass and very egotistical. Controlling and power hungry as related to when he and Johnathon fired Steve. With Neal it is all about money and staying on top of the game. Neal has no class as a human being especially the way he and Johnathon treated Steve is despicable. They should be ashamed of themselves, but with Neal's overabundance in ego all he can do is make smart a.. remarks about Steve. I understand that Neal and Johnathon are having problems getting along. I understand that Neil is making distasteful and mean comments about Johnathon. So, Neil is treating Johnathon the same way he treated Steve. Neil continues to say bad things about Steve, but Steve has class and as far as I know Steve has never talked and said untruths about Neil, Johnathon, and the rest of the band. Also, I understand that Neil fired Steve who played the drums forever for Journey and Ross who plays the bass. He has been with Journey from the very beginning and before Steve came into the story.
