Steve continues to discuss the process of building the Wynn Las Vegas. Throughout its entire conception, he was committed to designing the resort with the mission of providing people with a heightened and enriched emotional experience. From the moment a guest arrives through the gates, Steve and his team’s design encourages them to take a pause both architecturally and emotionally, to remain present as they experience their journey through the hotel.
Providing this experience served as the central foundation and theme of the entire hotel. Clinging to this core theme with every aspect they created allowed it to become what it did. Steve believes that everyone has creative ideas, but rather we have difficulty picking out the bad ones from the good ones. This ability differentiates the amateurs from the professionals.
In order to master creativity, you must understand the creative process, which encourages those with ideas to be critical of them. Too many times, we stunt our creativity by becoming too attached to an idea before we truly know if it’s a good one or a bad one. This is where change comes into play. The creative process takes time and it requires welcoming change to your initial plans.
