I was running our 700 and a bg50 while my son ran the 800. When the bg50 runs out of gas we take 5 while we refuel. I took the 800 and was surprised by the difference..its noticable. Heck..my 10 year old br600 is still running and its been USED. Long live Stihl!

Walked into my local dealer and said if they had the 800C I was going to buy it... they had it and it’s in the garage lol. Also, they recommend you cold start the first time during the day on the ground. Put your foot on that step and start. That side crank is on a pulley so you can pull upward with it as well. Also, when on your back starting. Pull about halfway slow to load up and then give a slow full pull and she cranks right up.

As a lifelong Stihl disciple, I have to say that for all its merits, and considering the price, Stihl cannot make itself a cut above the competition in the blower category. I've run Stihls since 1996 but that changed a couple of years ago.. Even though the build quality is probably the best, 4 mix needs more maintenance and the power is a little underwhelming. The echo 2 strokes 8010s are noisier, not as refined, and cheaper build quality, and not as comfortable over long shifts, but its all about air volume and power when time and money count. Echo knocks spots of Stihl in that regard,...it just does. Stihl need to get the CFM above 1100 and stick an electric starter on seen as the br800 is a pro unit. At the moment Stihl br800 doesn't stand out. Just my two cents.

I agree with you. The 8010 is a little more comfortable, and is just a blowing monster. Good point about an electric starter, then you wouldnt even need the side pull.

I use an 800 everyday. You have to choke it the first time and prime it good. After your first job, it will start on the first pull if you prime it or grab the trigger right away. It blows like a beast and if you're moving from job to job who cares about the side start. I dont turn it off until im ready to leave, lol. Blows wet grass and leaves really well. Watch the trigger on those mulch beds, lol. It is pretty heavy, but that will make your back strong

Great tip about the valve adjustment, wasn’t till I talked to a Stihl rep that I learned about it. I figured the blower was almost done. Adjusted the valves and it was good to go. Never to old to learn I guess. Good video. I think that hip belt is great for big leaf jobs. I’m in Ontario Canada, it’s selling for 899, should b 50 cheaper for the spring sale. Pretty steep but I might buy it!!

That looks a beast of a machine with plenty of power personally I don’t like the Stihl 4 mix but does have a nice tone I use 2 of the br 450 c ef electric start Stihl backpack blowers so simple the same adjustable nozzle a little less powerful but they are a proper 2 stroke Maybe you should invest in some ear defenders :)

I've had a lot of complaints and experience with stihl being temperamental to start, we do however continue to use their backpack blowers. As far as this particular blower goes I think it's overkill and overpriced for a regular mow crew. I run the lightest backpacks for our mow trucks that are just blowing some clippings off of a sidewalk. Not only are the lighter units less expensive but after 8 hours on a mow crew your guys appreciate lighter equipment. We only bring out the big guns for cleanup work.

It's not a 4 stroke it's a 4 mix. 4 stroke burns gas and has a separate oil chamber. 2 stroke burns oil and gas together. The 4 mix is some kind of in between technology. Having said that I'm a diehard echo guy.

Jason, an 18 minute video is too long , lol. Just cut to the chase before I buy the Echo. Side crank seems like a gimmick plus it needs to be choked. Also, you should always talk to a client without a blower on your back anyway. That’s so your hands are free to collect a check.

What's the point of having the side pull start if the damn thing won't start. I bought three of these pieces of S*** and they wouldn't start. The key is, now that I know, you have to half choke the stupid thing every single time you start it. Well that does no good if the choke is on the back of the blower. I took all three of my new blowers back to the dealer. He couldn't get them started either. We traded them for the regular pull start. Later that day he had two other companies bring there blowers back also. It is a gimmick and I should have known better.

@E Williams I thought the same thing since I was a diehard anything but Stihl fan. I have a Husqvarna 580BTS, Dolmar 7601.4, and a Echo PB8010T. I just bought the Stihl BR800C and I love it. Not nearly as loud as my Husqvarna and Echo and better power than my Dolmar which is a real 4 stroke not a 4 mix like the Stihl. The Echo feels a bit more powerful overall but the higher MPH of the Stihl seems to dig stuff out in the lawn easier. It’s a good blower but so are the other ones in its class.
