Great video. Most of those checks should be done at the end of every day.

Excellent video. Subscribed. I just bought a used ms440 and it had a lot of black sludge behind the clutch (very similar to this saw) had me a bit concerned about it but clearly you were not. That was a relief.

Good catch. The oil pick up hose is starting to leak. It's only a compression fit under the oil pump. You'll have to remove the dust cover for the brake parts and the brake band. Take the two screws out that hold down the oil pump and pull the oil pick up line out of the housing and replace.

Great video. 🤌 Saw maintenance ismore than just blowing out the air filter and replacing the fuel & pulse lines. Great info for the average saw owner to know.

Amen! Most of this stuff any hack can do if he has a few hand tools. It's more important to know what to inspect and how much wear is too much. It ain't as juicy as an oil thread but this was a textbook example of an overdue service.

I’m working on it. Just have to buy a new chain now instead of sharpening other than touch up. Haven’t found a taker gauge yet. Hope when I get a taker gauge will get better results

Excellent in-depth coverage, beyond the standard homeowner maintenance items of changing the sparkplug, air filter, and replacing the primer bulb (when it doesn't need it). It'd be interesting to see the tab for this service, OEM parts and bench time ain't cheap now-a-days.

Parts were pricy. Labor not so much. Cheapest dealer in my area is at $90/hr. I'm no where near that. I have to sleep at night. 😅

Thank you!! Just everyday stuff that falls through the cracks. We all get busy and forget some of the regular maintenance. Thankfully there wasn't any real damage. I always preach, when the saw starts acting up, just put it down and grab another. The damage, and repair bill will be A LOT less.

There have been ads on some of my more popular videos since last fall. I'll be honest when I saw the ads, I thought i was going to get something for it. I did a quick search and realized I had some work to do. That was one of the motivating factors to step up and do more than just test cuts. Yes, I figured out adsense and I'll invest that into some fun stuff into the channel. Thanks for everyones support.

I use white lithium grease, available from Ace Hardware, on the sprocket bearing and worm gear. This is a part of my annual maintenance for all saws. I clean the PTO side as clean as I can, cleaning the clutch and sprocket with break cleaner.

What is the plug in the intake?
@richardflagg3084

Looks like a punchline waiting to happen LOL. It's a solid tapered rubber cone. Kind of a universal plug to close off the intake for deep cleaning before disassembly. I've made templates using rubber tiles, purchased at home improvement stores, for vacuum/pressure tests. I may do a quick video on that. Thanks!!!

@@richardflagg3084 no punchline here. I seem to be literally the worst at blocking them off for pressure/vac.
