You know, I’m not quite sure that people know how hard it is to play a song like that on guitar and sing at the same time. Sting makes it look easy, but something like that takes quite a bit of practice because the hands are not following the vocal melody, while the guitar part has a melody all it’s own. A lovely song.

I play and sing it too but in a simplified version. Just em7/am7/B7/em7 for the verses and am7/ B7/em7/em7 for the chorus. I do a lot of busking and its a nice song to stand out a bit. You can listen to my version if you like here. kzitem.info/news/bejne/z66HumGdbpx5iag Its not as good as his version of course but some songs I have to sing by myself. I hope he doesnt mind.

“I love you and I love your music even more.” Anni Lenox- I agree with Anni. I saw Sting in concert about thirty years ago in Toronto and when he got to this song I was weeping. This song brings back so many memories. I first heard this song when I was suffering with PTSD of getting hit by a drunk driver and losing my memory due to the head and neck injury and concussion. I developed many disabilities in the aftermath and as a result of that horrid accident…” how fragile we are”.💔❤️🩹 Sting I grew up with your music in high school from listening to the police songs and then listening to your solo creations and jazz songs , collaborating with many great artists like with Chris Botti and beyond. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for always breaking ground with your song writing and uplifting music.

Man, this is not that difficult to play compared to some stuff I've played. There are a lot of shifting chord patterns on the left hand and a few barre chords but nothing challenging or major stretches. I don't see this as difficult. I do, however, think it belongs on a nylon strung CG as per the original. The steel string sounds bit too harsh.
