The person that owns the most wood usually wins this game. The ability to block people from getting wood cannot be overlooked.

Interesting presentation. Explains why my "strategy" of rushing buildings and builder bonus didn't work.

Rolling 2 dice does not give equal number of odd and even numbers - 6 even, 5 odd

its best, therefore, to roll multiples of 2 for food, 3 for wood and so on

@@petergoulding5671 The number of options is not equal, but the probability of odd vs even is. This is because some numbers are more commonly rolled than others with two dice. For example, 7 has a 6/36=1/6 chance while 2 has a 1/36 chance. If you add it up, both evens and odds total 18/36=1/2. Alternatively, just imagine rolling the dice one at a time. If the first is even, then the parity of the them together will match the second die, which has a 50/50 chance of being even or odd. Similarly if the first is odd, then the parity will be the opposite of the second die, but it's still 50/50.

Thank you for your analysis. It will be very useful in evaluating the best possible choice. I did, however, notice one oversight in your evaluation of building tiles. You did not include the civilization bonuses which could significantly increase the VP/Pip for lower valued buildings making them desirable, if you are pursuing a building strategy. For example, if we assume your civilization cards give you a bonus of 5VP/Building, and you choose the 1-7 building. You would get (3+5VP)/(3+3.5 Pips) = 1.23 VP/Pip for 1 wood vs. (42+5VP)/((7x6)+3.5) = 1.03 VP/Pip for 7 gold. Even the 2 wood and 1 brick building would be (10+5VP)/((2x3)+4+3.5 Pips) = 1.11VP/Pip.

you're undervaluing buildings. There is no talk about blocking strategies and starvation.

for instance, you should also add to the building VP the number of civ card building multipliers you have (or think you'll get in the end). There are also better building multipliers available in the civ cards.

You are also over valueling civ cards at the end. If you have 7 tools and x5 tool civ cards. Then the choice is between a free tool (8x5) vs paying for an additional tool multiplier. (7x6).

I noticed that as well, and included a comment with estimates.
