Well, sometimes one can buy real good stuff for a low price. And high price is no guarantee for high quality...

I agree with your storyline, but I was taught the expression is: I'm too poor to buy rich things, or I'm not rich enough to buy rich things. And while you are buying fewer, quality things, embrace minimalism.

Great video and advice! I am soo glad to see that Ethan is finding the joy in things that are not material such as an Aston/Porsche, expensive watches and cloths. I am struggling with the same!! I mean I like my toys and cloths etc but these things are fleeting. It's the relationships (family/friends/romantic) that really bring the joy in life!

If you are going to buy expensive, make sure the design is timeless. You can repair them, you only buy once.

I was growing up relatively poor, but my mother always tried to buy me the best that my family could afford. She explained it to me in the same manner, that the thing she bought may be expensive, but it will last longer and will look better even after some time. I understood that it wasn't easy given to me and cared for my things. Remembered that moment. Mother approves (: Thanks for the video, Ethan. Have a nice day!

I recall a couple of years back, you correctly stated that if you want a Ferrari, don't buy steps of intermediate cars, then the Ferrari, save for the Ferrari and buy it. I agree with you here, too. All you get buying cheap things is a clutter of cheap things, instead of one item you really wanted in the first place.

I used to buy two cheap shoes yearly and each would be destroyed in 6 months. 😂 I bought an expensive shoes, it is been 5 years, it would not get destroyed 😂

If only more people would embrace those words of wisdom......our landfills wouldn't be overflowing and maybe we could even avoid turning this planet and its oceans into a garbage dump.

Yeah, better to buy 1 good thing than 1 cheap with 6 replacements, life is too short for crappy things.

The problem is that if you buy something expensive as in fashion, there will be something new next year and it will be replaced too. It will not be in trend.

Amen, that is very much a Scandinavian attitude. If it worth getting, get something that last. That said most luxury brands such a Gucci and others is just flaunting and wasting money. Another despised personal characteristic in Norway.

Hi Ethan, I hope all is well with you. I, and many others I'm sure, are missing hearing from you in your videos. Not that you owe us anything of course - I just hope you're well and have been too busy in a positive way to make new videos at the moment. All the best.

If you want to put quality before quantity you should invest in what we call jordvärme. That is expensive but in the long run it pays and is bettet for the environment. You put pipes filled with Water in the earth and this circulate. I can’t explain it but Ask i you our plummer about it.

Thanks for the advice I will look into it. On a side note "better for the environment" is just a popular statement, it means nothing in the bigger scheme of things. The amount of pollution wars create is equal to a thousand years of my life. So I am not going to destroy my life for something the rest of the World doesn't care about. All the "save the planet" is just bullshit propaganda because not a single government is taking actual measures to change human behaviour. All they are doing it using this propaganda for taxation.

The best way to save the planet is to combat overconsumption and wastage. But it is the hardest thing to do because you will be against corporate lobbies. I like your comment about wars causing so much environmental destruction. I yet to see an article on the environmental damage the Ukraine Russian war has caused so far from any western media outlets. And that’s the reason I despise EV cars… I see it as a product of hypocrite society. And I will not let it affect my choices as much as I can…
