Hey this really good! Someone once said that if someone says never use pure white or pure black: to break the rule first to see why someone would say don't do it but also how to use effects of that to your advantage. So break the rules to understand them. Which also comes back to what you were saying you think of idea but make rules for self against that idea but it's much better and helps you grow more to break it and see what you can learn. P.S. This applies to art and not much else cause there certain other kinds of rules that you should not be testing.😅

This is very helpful, especially for someone like me who got stuck in very toxic communities (like the amino communities) and watching videos from the deviantart cringe community that spread out horrible "critique" and was very unforgiving on how harsh they were, especially for beginning artists

You were hopefully the last artist who needed to give me approval for my artistic decisions ;D Thank you very much ! I struggled with this exact topic of direction and insecurity for a longer time subconciously and you hit it pretty much on the head therefore manifesting it more directly and making it more graspable as a problem for me in my own mind. Sometimes its these little gems of hidden relatability about these really specific sensibilities we as humans and especially artist face which give can give the biggest boost in growth if reflected upon. Also that painting is amazing ;D keep it up !!

I've struggle what exactly the outcome for my art. I made so many strict rules before so what I did is to lessen it by making more free in choosing my colour pallets, must the same pixel size of brush or even must smooth line.

that's great, making limitations for yourself can really help you be more creative and produce some interesting things

I can definitely relate to this topic, i keep waiting on personal projects because i'm afraid it won't be good enough, that i'm not talented enough for a certain thing yet, that i won't be able to draw the piece well enough for my own judgement, but even if i don't think i'm talented enough yet, it would still help me grow to do it, even then, i could recreate it later, when i am a more skilled and seasoned artist

yeah definitely true, you can get the experience of trying that idea now even if you feel you aren't ready for it, and you might even develop the skill to execute that idea sooner than you'd expect simply by trying a few times !

Thanks Kyo, so much for this video! Your videos always makes me feel like I'm never alone in my own art struggles. I've always struggled with how others thinks of me and my decisions were unintentionally dictated by other people, which bleeds into my creative process. Switching from realistic art to cutesy illustrations definitely made me feel like I needed everyone's approval, but I don't. Everyone has their form of expression and we are the artist who portray that. Like you've mentioned, experiment!! Try out new things!! Don't box ourselves with do's and don'ts, and let go of our fears of judgement, be freeeeeeeee and creative ٩(^ᗜ^ )و ´- ✨ I hope you too can remember this throughtout your art journey too! 🌱

thank you for this video! i'm not exactly a visual artist but i have been starting to write recently. this came at quite a good time, honestly-it's a much-needed reminder to sometimes make things for the sake of experimentation and personal growth. i feel as though i tend to get so wrapped up in social validation that i blind myself to the process. after all, thinking without doing is fruitless and doing without thinking reifies one's own established tendencies in creation. people introduce frameworks into artistic mediums to derive coherence from chaos. however, perhaps i've mistaken these frameworks for law in some way! :p with that in mind, i do wonder if development of style is simply the process of construction, synthesis, and negation of these frameworks. there's always something to (un)learn, i suppose 😅 (whoops, got carried away. thank you for the food for thought, though! :))

that was a pretty quick decision 🙃 I'd say it'll take some planning but it's only risky if you go about it the wrong way, I don't know the answers to that yet and everyone's situation is different so I'm not completely able to guide you but hopefully in talking to other people and discovering what skills you can monetize you might discover how you plan on achieving that

Very inspirational, kyo!! As an artist I rly needed to hear this, creating art w/o judgment and putting it out into the world is something that creative minds should do. Your art is breathtaking, it’s unbelievable how you make it seem so effortless. Pls share more of your thoughts, I lik how u kind of use your channel as a diary for yourself (revolving around art ofc)!! I’d lik to see a basic guide to painting digital art or just more of a personal perspective on ur journey w art :)) looking forward to your next upload
