That's exactly my plan! I'm at the stage of pike push ups from 2 stair steps, but I have to take a 3 week break due to an OP. I'm glad to see it's the right way to go.

During one of my practices, I lost my balance and fell backward and bumped my head on the tile. I"m working to get over my fear to resume my practice

idk if this still reaches you after about a year but try to tuck ur chin to ur chest and ur knees to ur chest as well - rounding ur back when falling towards ur back. Then u easily can do a roll,
