Here is a strange technique I use intentionally and unintentionally: Play a random song as quiet as possible from a distance where you are still hearing parts of it and you are getting a little of the physical space reverberations.... your brain is only picking up pieces of it, but because of the way the brain works(amazingly that I can't even explain) it fills in the gaps it can't hear to come up with something similar but unique or something totally different. Also try it with a fan on because of the extra white(or whatever color noise it puts out) noise your brain uses to help fill in those gaps. Sometimes fans have a certain humming frequency your brain uses as kind of the "root note". Maybe it's just me, but Crazy huh?

I practice something similar. My experience is that I start to hear (or hallucinate) melody and overtones emerging from the wash of noise or acoustic texture. I’ve yet to try this and then strip away the supporting noise that the melody emerged from and to build new supporting harmonies to go with it. It _is_ a journey and I’m glad that I’m on it.

Quasar, always with those king videos. Synthwave is what I mainly produce, im pretty good with melodies, that's my strong side, but Im subbed to you for those great reason vids! This vid was also great if you have trouble with melodies or such. Of course, I guess we all do from time to time, even if you are good with melodies, in certain sessions when you sit down to try to make something it feels like your mind is blank and everything you come up with is trash :P Part of being a musician... I suppose! 😅

Hey! Is the chord sequencer that good? Does it help with writer's block? Considering buying but only if it'll help with my writer's block. Thanks and glad to see you back! :)

I like it a lot! I come up with stuff I wouldn't otherwise. I think it was money well spent.
