WD 45 was an excellent tractor. We used one for years on the farm. Would love to have one with a wide front end. Don't forget about the single hydraulic connection for different attachments. It will lift and gravity let's implement drop. Nice feature to have.

I did forget about that! I've actually never used that on the WD since I have no 2-point implements and my MF35 has a more modern hydraulic block with returns.

The switch you refer to beside the amp gauge is to increase the generator output (when you forget to turn the ignition on and almost drain the battery) or when working at night with the lights on. It increases the generator out from like (don't hold me to these numbers) 7.5 amps to 15. Keeps from just boiling the battery during those 12-20 hour days plowing or disking. Remember, that series started in the 1940's and came with magneto's. Automotive electrical systems have advanced a long way since then. The WD/WD-45 is my favorite tractor to this day right up until my right knee starts throbbing from bouncing against the fender bolt heads hour after hour. The hand clutch system should still be mandatory. As the gentleman who introduced me to those tractors used to say, "The most power you could buy for the money in the 1940's and still the most power for the money you can buy today"!!!!!

Thank you for the information! My switch does not work but I wish it did. I've used this tractor 8 hours at a time several times and, although it isn't quite as comfortable as my newer Kubota, you can't beat that sound or that power! I paid $750 for this WD. I'm not 100% sure it won't outpull the $9500 Kubota.

@@bergercreek Not sure what Kubota you have but my money is on the Allis up to 35 hp! 4wd is a big help to the Kubota if you have it.

@@randallsullivan3692 I've got a L4200. It is 4x4 and 45hp but the Allis is probably heavier.

The lift arms are apart of the snap coupler hitch. Allis-Chalmers stopped using the snap coupler hitch in the 1960s as some early model 190XTs had the snap coupler hitch.

Correct! I've started converting this tractor to a 3-point hitch. I'm hoping to post a video of that soon.

@@bergercreek from what we heard from other farmers and our experience, get the conversion that bolts to the drawbar not the one that hooks into the “bell” of the snap coupler.

I'm actually making my conversion, but the lower links will bolt to my drawbar rear brackets. I was worried about using the snap coupler too, apparently one company (possibly AC) had a kit that used the snap coupler but it looks sketchy to me.
