@@stereostigma5794 Yes, I was talking pre Sunday Valley; pre-Oregon Pickathon that everyone likes to talk about. Career likely on my part was hyperbole. He grew up in Kentucky immersed in bluegrass. His guitar playing bears the clear imprint of a bluegrass flatpicker. I've always loved that you can hear the influence in all of his albums and even in his vocals. Heck, if you added banjo, quite a bit of Sunday Valley sounds like bluegrass. Then again, the Bill Monroe -- Elvis connection has been talked about ad nauseum.

Love Sturgill but, the mandolin player is the star of this show.

Sierra Hull has been player of the year more than once if memory serves me well. Had the pleasure of seeing her last summer. She’s no slouch on the six string either.

Ever been to Nashville? Mandolin players like her are a dime a dozen.

Haven't been to Nashville, Guy, but it's on the bucket list. I don't dispute there being a boat load of undiscovered talent in Nashville. However, I suspect winning the IBMA player of the year 3 consecutive years makes her a bit more than "a dime a dozen."

@@fatfredthe28th I should have started that with "although she's a brilliant mando player..." lol There's just so many great guitar, mandolin and fiddle players in Nashville it's mind-boggling. Many unpaid, playing for tips.

Something I've always loved about Bluegrass music is the fact that you can take the most sad, somber lyrics and package them in a piece of music that's still upbeat and makes you feel good regardless of the situation you're in. It sounds cliche' but that has literally saved my life on more than one occasion. Thank you for all you do Sturg!

This was an historic show, IMO. Just blew my mind. Will become a key piece in the "Sturgill Simpson: 21st Century Legend" puzzle. And count me as someone who 💕 all four albums.. S&F is soo goood. Thanks !!

Ive seen a couple of these events from the Ryman with no audience and I sure hope at least some of the employees there are lucky enough to see and here these performances. What a treat!
