@@nateb4543 every now and then the internet is not toxic and you get a warm hearted response like this. Mate first 6 months was hard as hell. She was colic and slept real bad and my dad has been critically unwell. That being said, becoming a father is the greatest thing that’s ever happened to me and I had greatly underestimated how much I’d love this child and how much it would mature my love for her mum. It does get better every day. Thanks heaps for the comment man, made my day. All the best in your parenting journey!

It's nice to hear someone else singing my tune. I get ignored by friends and family and forgotten from invites to things like weddings because I'm not on Facebook or Instagram. These are huge multi-million pound corporations here to make money. Being a member of their site is not a mandatory life expectancy and people shouldn't be penalised for choosing not to be a part of it. The Internet is great and a great tool to communicate with people around the world. But it has somewhat taken over people's lives and i miss the days of having to visit people to talk to them. I would much rather go walking with someone and chat in person outside in the fresh air than message someone online that only lives down the street.

I agree so much. And this is all getting worse for the younger generations. Im only 15 but you are so right! Social media and social interaction through the internet is really just a band aid for whats the real problem for me- lack of (meaningful) social interaction I have been treating the symptoms instead of addressing the cause myself, and it really is damaging in the long run. Because of my social anxiety (in the real world) I have been rather avoiding social interaction, even if it was necessary. I am working hard on my mental state right now but I genuinely needed this video as a small wake up call to keep pushing and realize where I am right now. Thank you very much

Very well said and a great reminder for everyone to allow them to miss people they care about to make the real interactions that much more special.

As a Catholic, I can definitely see a lot of wisdom in this. It’s similar to what J.R.R. Tolkien alluded to in his works and personal upbringing - blindly following the latest trends without the proper discernment can lead to problems.

The most simple answer is to take a step back from it, assess your life, take accountability, be realistic in current circumstances, make changes if necessary, and find balance. The real discussion is that since technology doesn't seem to be going away (anytime soon) and the human species has such a hard time stopping ourselves. How can/ or should we use technology in a different manner or way to help us make those changes for our own good? 🤔

Unfortunately, I think what's going to happen is humans are going to epigenetically (and over longer periods of time, genetically) adapt by being able to tolerate less real human interaction, less sex, and more social media. It's actually really scary to think about, but that is the most likely scenario.

Indeed, these thoughts are truly profound. It had never occurred to me that engaging in activities such as video calls and going to the gym could actually hinder my deep connection with both individuals and the natural world. As for the matter of pornography, I comprehend its detrimental effects on one's capacity for intimacy and loyalty. I express my gratitude for bringing these insights to my attention. This material provides excellent food for thought.

Word, brother! I totally agree. Modern living is in many ways inhumane, and detaches us from our very nature. And what’s worse is that anyone who speaks out about this in modern society gets shunned, ignored, or called crazy, because of the social facts programmed into modern humans from early childhood. This horrible groupthink prevents us from seeing that we are living wrong, and in many ways praises vice over virtue.

I thought this was great. Also, it's rare to hear a man level even the slightest criticism of the abundance of pornography and people's increasing reliance on it. It creates a lot of unhealthy people. If you criticize the industry itself and the behaviors it creates, a lot of men especially are so defensive and resistant to any conversation. It's addict behaviour tbh.

Additional note: with the advent of online dating it has made connections flimsy and effervescent because of the sheer amount of perceived options. Why try and make real connections with someone when at the drop of a hat you can pick someone different? Why tough it out and make something work when an app or two makes it seem like there are a hundred other options around the bend?

Do you really think that these days behaviours of women but also men leads to a connection which is, in the widest sense, connecting? I doubt it with all this high standards on others but not willing to sacrifice hedonistic behaviour to humanistic goals. I was lucky enough to get to know one or two persons like this, but from my pov now society is quite rattled and broken. So yes, porn over „real“ women 😀😉
