Such a satisfying review. I’m glad you didn’t fill the whole episode with music, as you really can’t represent the actual sound through headphones. You’ve established benchmarks that most can understand, real world experience, some struggles to consider (cable length, main speaker locked to the right etc). So I own a UE Hyperboom. in Australia is $499. It has a TOSLINK that I use to context to my TV. I was budgeting to buy another as they have the ability to pair wirelessly and work left and right. But for AUD$1099 it seems you’ve shown me is a system that is wholly superior with so much physical connectivity, the buttons on the front to choose Spotify playlist and a physical volume button. Wow! Because it has HDMI (ARC??) I wonder if I change the volume on the TV would it adjust the volume on the SVS? If so, I will sell the Hyperboom tomorrow.

Just a thought for the cable management. 1 inch (2.54cm) grey PVC pipe and 45 degree elbows. By putting the cables through the pipe then a elbow and then connect the pipe and elbow without glue and continue with more elbows or pipe until cables are enclosed end to end (well almost end to end because your going to want a little play at each cable end so as not to kink the cables). And by not glueing the fittings and pipe, as your system or cables change it makes it possible to do so without destroying anything. You can also use any size pipe you like.

First off, I really like the continuity you've managed to create between your reviews by using the €1000 hifi as a point of comparison. Second, I find the use of a proprietary umbilical cable to be clumsy and limiting in terms of speaker placement and cable management. It might make sense to make various lengths of umbilical cable available. However.... I think having a small separate box containing all the electronics would make placement much easier and more flexible. The box could have all electronics-the amplifiers, the DAC, DSP and digital x-over-and would connect to the speakers using readily available speaker cable. The speakers would have two sets of speaker terminals (one for tweeter, one for woofer) and x-over is controlled via DSP. That way you can put the box close to your sources, power outlet, TV, etc.. and then use as long a speaker cable run as you need to place the speakers where you want and conceal the speaker cable.

You describe these really well, and it isn't that easy. I'm testing them out next to the Q Acoustics M20s - so different - never should have done this. The SVS are very detailed, and the base is deep, but you can also hear the pluck of the strings - it's dynamic. When I listened to Soapkills Tango - those moments where the base kicks in and just runs wild - oh -man! This doesn't happen with the M20s - that level of detail and dynamics isn't there. But the female voice is so beautifully rendered. But I get the feeling q is tailoring things to their preference, rather than let the recording play out. It is alluring, but subtle details get lost, and dynamics get smoothed. For someone they are right - but I don't think they'll ever get you out of your seat. With the SVS you can hear the layers, the fingers on the strings , a when things punch up, you get a visceral punch. They're almost always musical , I say "almost" because if you get a bad recording - you hear a bad recording - not SVSs fault, no gloss. They seem to skirt an edge, but they never break up even though I wait for them to be overwhelmed. Nyet comrade, nyet. And they're not bling, but they're not really ugly - nope. Or maybe - beauty is as beauty does.

I’ve done some reflecting since the Klipsch The Fives review and I agree: it is unacceptable to have to buy a subwoofer to make them sound acceptable. I did buy a subwoofer and I think they sound great in my space but with better information, I would have bought something else.

Hey, I have a question. I have noticed that you have not talked about any krk rokit system to this point. Is there any reason to? I would be very intrested in a review about the krk rokit 5/8 g3 system.

3 months later, and with these now available for pre-order from some retailers, is there any chance that these would get compared to the KEF LS50 Wireless II?

Did you ever get a solution here? I’m comparing the PWP’s with a 3000 micro to the LS50 II on their own (with a sub upgrade eventually)

They're also coming out with the SVS Prime Wireless Pro Soundbase (quite a mouthfull), basically a streaming amp with the internals of these speakers. This looks interesting for a multiroom system with integrated speakers for example. What would you do in that case for each room. - SVS Prime Wirelles Pro Soundbase or - A streamer like the Audio Pro Link 2 (i know you reviewed the link 1) + a small amp like something from Ayima or the likes The setup would be out of sight (so appearance doesn't matter) and mostly connected to in-ceiling or wall mounted speakers Any ideas / tips?

Had similar need, having two toddlers had to put off streamer, amp, dac and few ohm Walsh 2000/3000 speakers for Undetermined period. Watched Klipsch fives reviews, checked what was in competition or in similar budget and in 2021 December ordered fives. Exchanges sound-bar with minimalist intrusion in regards to wiring, allows streaming in the room, has enough low end to provide tv programs “sub like bass” with update and app provides balanced sound (cinema like lows) on low volumes, no need to crank high to get effects of tv shown movies. Locally they were 900 eur, amazon from US found for 550 with delivery. With Samsung S95B provides clean view and does not intrude to room space on a TV cabinet (TV wall mounted). In 30 sqm room mids/highs throw is borderline acceptable. We still do not have SVS wireless pro on sale locally, but considering the pricing i have doubts that such type of device should cost 900-1000 eur/usd fives/svs alike. For the price 550 with delivery to Lithuania, it is a value buy, above 650/700 barely used gear from ads could be a better fit.

Great review. I have some prime elevations for my atmos speakers in my home theater - the rest of the home theater is Angstrom wall-mounted speakers. For everything else, I have a whole home Sonos setup. I've bought into the Sonos App experience. However, I have a nook in my dining room that has a bar cabinet with a Samsung frame TV, with a DecoFrame, and I wanted something better looking than a soundbar. So, I put a pair of "the fives" on the bar, which looks very nice. I've added a Sonos port to the setup, so the setup plays whatever is on the Samsung, or plays whatever I'm playing throughout the house. I agree with the bass on the fives, and it took the new app to get it adjusted to where I needed it. It's good now. I also have Klipsch reference 500m's in the garage and a pair of B&W AM1's outside on the patio - all connected to the Sonos system with a Sonos amp. If you go down that rabbit hole of Sonos. It's going to cost a fortune. Anyhow thanks again for the review. SVS is a great company.

3:15 If you are not using the DAC in the speaker, with an external DAC (or anything using the analog RCA), you can put the primary speaker on the left by switching the RCAs around so white connects to red and vice versa, but that would mean for the digitals, HDMI ARC, SPDIF, internal streaming board etc, you would have opposite L/R sounds. You might want a meatier sound, i.e schiit modi 3 or refinement with chord mojo (or maybe a more price appropriate DAC to match the speaker). On the other hand, you may be reluctant to do this, as you will be losing all that built in functionality and the internal dac is tailored to the speakers.

Hai Darko, you mention " I don't do DSD " ..... just switched back to denafrips / audirvana / andrea bocelli DSF file... goosebumps mate, voices are so much more natural and real than on any PCM rate... on the right system you hear it, and i don't own a 100 K system....

meh. in addition to the speakers that make up my mains (large advents, klipsch sub, infinity center), i have 8 sonos throughout the condo - including the bathrooms! at $200 each, the sonos are a convenience, and not a bad sounding reinforcement to immerse oneself in music everywhere!

Please review Magnat Multi Monitor 220, best with their subwoofer. Seems very good built, and the company makes their own magnets.

Love your reviews, though I'm not an audiophile but I like listening and learning. This might put you off, but I'd love to see you going into these noise cancelling earbuds and reviewing the likes of B&O EQ, B&W PI7, and etc, they definitely not audiophile grade but they are mainstream and would love to hear your take on them and know your favourite earbuds. 👍

Seems easier and cheaper to pay an electrician to route your ethernet cable to your streamer/preamp. Mine cost $350 to hard wire to fiber optic.

I wonder if Darko would dig the SVS Ultra Towers? Curious how a legitimate reviewer would rate their flagship towers.
