"Super Trouper" is the seventh studio album by the Swedish pop group ABBA. It was released on 3 November 1980.
Work on the new LP began in January 1980, when Björn and Benny travelled to Barbados on a trip for inspiration. Five new songs came out of this experience and recording began in February 1980: "Elaine", "Andante, Andante", "The Piper", "Happy New Year" and "On And On And On".
On June 3rd the demo "Burning My Bridges" is recorded, not released until 1994 on ABBA Undeleted. On 4 June Frida records the track "Our Last Summer", a ballad inspired by Björn's romance in France. On 6 June, lyrics are added to the track "The Winner Takes It All", whose lyrics were inspired by Björn and Agnetha's divorce.
The recording sessions resume on 8 September when "Me And I" is recorded. On 9 September, Agnetha provides vocals on the dance track "Lay All Your Love On Me". On the same day, the recording of "Put On Your White Sombrero" takes place, a song that was not released until 1994.
On 3 October, just a few days before the photo shoot for the album cover, Björn and Benny had started work on the track "Super Trouper". As the last track, the band decided to include a live track: "The Way Old Friends Do", a song performed during their 1979 tour. This ended the recording sessions for the album.
