The man won GT500 in 2000. I think he knows what he's doing.

It's a sequential gearbox, you can bang it down through to 1st in a second just like a motorbike without any worries.

@raiore No, it doesn't kill the gearbox. You often use some overrevs in motorsports on downshifts to get more engine brake. You can use it for one or two qualy laps without hurting the engine. The gears is straight cut, so it's no problem at all, it would last for a whole race. But don't try that in your own car! :D

@GTRF1V8 it doesnt actually. all it does is using the motor brake more which allows u to brake even later. it only sounds "painful" for the gearbox because its shifting very high. if they shift down too early the tires would lock up though and thats where it WOULD get painful ;)

On a bike you can just hold the clutch and shift back as much as you want, but in these cars they actually clutch and press the gas at every downshift while braking, using 2 feet for 3 pedals. watch?v=Iej2U6Z4MMc&feature=endscreen&NR=1 this is a vid you can see that pretty well.

When racing a bike you actually brake and press gas every downshift with one hand, 2 hands for 3 controls- just the same. It's exactly the same as heel toe braking. Please don't go talking about what you don't know...
