I love the desperation of the policemen, first responders, drs and nurses in this scene. They really didn't know what to do, but they had to do something, so they did everything they /did/ know to do. Really, the only thing I hated about this movie was the Lois and child aspect with a new guy in her life. But there were two great things about it: 1. Brandon Routh was born to be Superman! 2. This movie was most like the originals with Reeve - much more in tune with the comics. There was a charm about it that the new ones lack.
@Eris_Norregard

@@cactusmalone I mostly agree with what you're saying, but one thing that needs to be said is that Lois and Superman never broke up. There was no closure. He left and she had no idea what happened to him, if he was even alive. After some time, she fell in love with another man - Richard - much like when a widow finds a second husband, she loved her new partner while simultaneously still loving the old one who she thought was forever gone. And now he's back. Of course she'd be confused and conflicted about her feelings for some time.

The director chose to have the events of Superman Returns happen after the events of Superman 2, bypassing 3 and 4 bc they were such disasters. Its called character build up. Everything from Superman down to the regular people. The plot is basically Superman went away for a period of time and the people gets use to it without him. Then a catasthropic event happens that only one person can help them. And Superman gave all his strength until the end. BVS doesnt have that theme that relates to people. They are what we called generic superhero theme which hero vs villain and the people are sidelined watching them while their places are destroyed literally by them

I think the difference comes down to the fact that this movie shows people trying to save Superman first, and failing. I think I remember the filmmakers’ inspiration being the assassinations of Kennedy and MLK. BvS has Superman die in a dramatic blaze of glory. Particularly, with the use of more biblical imagery, which is fine, but doesn’t have the same humanity that this one does.

@@liteweaver I agree... character buildup a much more sympathetic Superman, also. I liked the look of Henry Cavill and saw great potential in his portrayal, (I would have like to see more of his portrayal of Clark Kent to pass final judgement!) but you are right.. also, as poorly presented as Superman II seems to us, today, we have been jaded by modern superhero pyrotechnics. .. Reeve's Superman purposely drew Zod and Kryptonians away from human beings to save Metropolis and its people from any more danger. It's the true nature of Superman to protect humanity. Modern Movie makers seem to glory in destroy cities in movies, it's as if they are trying to relive the horrors of 9/11?

Kate Bosworth is very beautiful in this movie. Her close-ups are lovely. The sensitivity of this story is done so well, and like all the Superman movies there always is an underlying sadness. Lois, Richard, Clark/Superman, his son Jason ..... you get choked up by what's faced by each one; Clark's loneliness & forced to abandon Lois, and Jason who doesn't know his dad is Superman is a deep soul in a child. I get all choked up watching him. This is also one of the bests of Richard Marsden, his character's pain of loving a woman whom he senses still in love with someone she can't have. All the characters have their own suffering. I even felt sorry for Kitty, she couldn't bring herself to help destroy Superman because he saved her once.

I loved this movie from the first time I saw it and went back to the theaters 6 more times to see it. It's way better than what the Henry Cavill Superman movies are. Wish we could have gotten Bryan Singer's complete trilogy.

Ikr. This movie has so much depth to it. Henry and amy's chemistry feels so forced. But this is just like fluid. Superman doesn't necessarily have to be about just action, it's about the feelings. I like Brandon Routh's superman the most because he has the accurate looks and personality for it. Superman is strong but there's a vulnerability to his character which Brandon portrays perfectly. Henry is too bold.

Reeve is god. We all know that.... Having said that, this was truly the masterpiece in my mind that I never expected. Did it have flaws? Yes, but they were not on ROUTH and he got the backlash of a poor story which was not on him. His portrayal is outstanding in my eyes and the scene with him watching her .... "but did you love him?..... NO" Then he flies into the clouds , broke my heart big time. He really is the only man to wear that cape and follow Reeve.

Get This: If Superman's powers come from the UV radiation of the sun, what do you suppose would've happened if they put him in a tanning bed?
@m4rdoo
3 жыл бұрын
Maybe the same effect? But believe the sun would be much more efficient should just put him up amd put onto the sun to heal up say take him to somewhere like the desert? Lol heal up hella quicj
@DeadhunterThe
2 жыл бұрын
@@m4rdoo Maybe, but given doctors' general mentality that recovering from fatal injuries shouldn't be forced, doing what you suggest might be considered rushing things. They'd probably try the tanning bed first because it would allow them to gradually control how much UV radiation enters his body so he can recover more carefully.
@DeadhunterThe
Жыл бұрын
@@m4rdoo Personally what I would've done is tried the tanning bed first to gradually recover some of his strength, then if he doesn't recover at all, strip him of his clothing and drive him in Death Valley CA. Even if it does work, I would still recommend he be driven to Death Valley to train (albeit not naked like the former suggestion since he'd be recovering), and would recommend him not fly there and strain himself until the world is satisfied that he's recovered enough.

It doesn’t even make sense that his body would jump up like that, though. It would do nothing as his body’s still being shielded by his tactile telekinesis field. He’s still indestructible, if only nigh due to the kryptonite shard. But it had been removed so by then he should be almost fully indestructible again. The electricity simply shouldn’t have been able to even make it inside.
