My father took me to see Superman The Movie back in when it opened in 1978. I was about 5 years old. I remember that we had to wait a while because the projector malfunctioned and someone had to repair it. I cried and my father bought me a candy bar. A few hours later we saw it. Thirty years later, I took my father to see Superman Returns. I drove him, bought him a candy bar, and we had a great time watching the movie. L.J. Garcia I just had an issue with Routh and Bosworth's age, they were both in their early 20s. Being bland is one of the downsides of being Superman, you kinda have to be a bit of a "boy scout" so when comes the time where you uproot a whole freakin kryptonite island and off it into space, it makes it look amazing. And I really didn't feel Routh and Bosworth had good chemistry...
@jdcabrera9646

+bolatluver29 even with the extended cut being way better and having more of Superman, Returns had the help of being a semi-reboot for give us the Superman that most people love from the beginning, a good move. Man of Steel tried to have things from the darkest era of comic books, a move that maybe with Batman could work, but Superman wasn't the right choose.

I was like 25 when this movie came out... I was siting in cinema, my girlfriend was with me, I CRIED ON THIS... I FU...ING CRIED.... why... once as a child I thought I can fly, in my mind because of Superman, he was more than superhero in movie...this theme gives you hope like nothin I ever saw or heard in my life, not to mention any other superhero theme... Everyone who understands me on this, and there are MILLIONS OF US around the world, trust me on this; we all have some of Superman in us, I think that's the whole point, you dont have to fly and be man of steel, you can help and fight trough the life how ever you can... NEVER SURRENDER. And yes, I cried in cinema. Girlfriend was in shock when saw me lol, she understood without me sayin anythin. Man of Steel NEVER EVER gave me this goosebumps, goosebumps like I could die from it and live forever in the same time.

Had chills in the cinema watching this - Jor El's parting words accompanied by the Krypton theme, with that amazing pull back to reveal Krypton dwarfed by Rao in the sun's dying moments - then the implosion, the quiet flare as the sun attempts to reignite, and then the awesome and horrible moment when that fails and enoxorable physics shatter both star and planet alike. Farewell Krypton, and welcome to your last son... Got to add, I've always appreciated how Jor-El's final words ('the son') sync with the pan up to reveal the full size of Rao ('the sun'). Nice touch. And apparently this is the 1000th comment on this video, so I'm glad I found the inspiration to put down so many of my thoughts! Thanks so much for uploading this Amkha! :)

When I saw the intro in the theaters, my eyes were filled and i had goosebumps. I grew up with this version of Superman. I still think it was a good movie but to much of an homage to the past. I understand what Singer was doing, he was trying to bring Superman back to our collective memory. I think he would have nailed the sequels. Man of Steel is a completely different version of Superman, more in line with the times we live in now.

I am a die hard Superman fan and for me Superman Returns is the perfect Superman film. It's everything Superman is about. I like MOS but took me a very long time to accept it in to the Superman family. As for Batman Vs Superman don't get me started. Any future Superman films needs The Superman March Theme back.

My father took a 6 year old me out of school to see this movie in IMAX 3D. I believe it was one of the first 2D movies to be converted to 3D. And as a little girl, I reached out when I saw a man fly. He said he saw the original movie in 78 as a kid, and wanted to give me that same experience. I'm always going to love this movie. It's a wonderful tribute to the Reeve movies and the character as a whole.

I'm torn between the two recent iterations of The Man... I like the gritty-ness of MOS, yet SR was so much more true to the original movies... Love these opening credits
@kaiba-boi4256

mos wasn't really gritty, the haters just make up bullshit like he's emo, whiny, and not a hero, when the whole movie was based on the successful earth 1 run, and was literally about an outsider trying to find his place in a planet he clearly isn't from

@Anarchy Productions rewatch the movie, Clark didn’t destroy a single building in metropolis, the only things he destroyed in the metropolis fight was the world engine and somewhat the satellite, all the destruction in metropolis was 100% the world engine and Zod’s fault, with your logic, Superman and 99% of the marvel and dc universe aren’t heroes because they’ve all caused collateral damage

I remember seeing this in the theater and turning to my brother as soon as John Williams classic Superman Theme began to play and said "Best opening Superman scene ever and a classic tribute" and I still believe that to this day.

The way they paid homage in the intro to the original Superman movie was a class act all the way! Superman Returns was a great movie, hands down! Way better than the "Man of Steel"!

Say what you will about this movie's shortcomings, but bringing back John Williams' main title was perfect. Dispensing with it was a boneheaded move on the DCEU's part.
